OSTα3 Week 3 — Blockchain Loyalty Points for Saleor (Pizza $PTS)
It is only 3 weeks into our PoC challenge and we are making steady progress. Our project is a blockchain-based customer rewards program called “Pizza Points” built on the Saleor E-commerce platform. We have been able to easily integrate OST KIT and add a nice looking wallet for our Pizza Points ($PTS) token. We also added the balance into the header. Go ahead and try the live site at http://pizzapoints.io. Each new customer is gifted 5 $PTS on initial registration as an incentive toward a future purchase.
Progress
We have integrated the OST KIT API into the Saleor platform, and a new wallet is created on customer registration. New customers are gifted an extra 5 $PTS on their first order. We have integrated the Balance and Ledger APIs to create the “Wallet Lite” functionality –– visible above. We are currently integrating with the checkout workflow to reward customers their Pizza Points ($PTS) and also allow them to purchase with their points.
Issues
We initially had the idea that Pizza Points would be valued at exactly $1, but that doesn’t seem to be possible with the current OST KIT Alpha implementation. Our $PTS tokens fluctuate with the value of OSTα. So rather than saying we are rewarding a customer with 5 Pizza Points, it is a little more cumbersome to say we are rewarding customers with $5 worth of $PTS. We’re thinking it might be nice to have a “Stable Coin” version of a Branded Token that is tied to $USD.
Next Steps
Our next steps are to finish integrating the reward of Pizza Points ($PTS) for each purchase, and adding the ability to spend the Pizza Points towards a new purchase.
