Thank you for being interested in The New Explorers Club! In this article (divided into “part 1” and a “part 2”), we’ll cover all the most important things to know, including everything you need to know “right now”.
What is The New Explorers Club?

TNEC is a project founded and backed by Portals.
Why The New Explorers Club?
There are many reasons. Here are a few:
- It’s been a wish from many in the Portals Community for a long-time to have a PFP (profile picture), but we didn’t want to just to do a collection of PFP images. There had to be more reasons, and it had to be relevant beyond “just” for Portals NFT holders.
- We believe that we can offer and create a unique project by utilizing the Portals platform. From giving club owners access to a small personal space in the Portals Metaverse (Genesis Pod) to utilizing Portals for amazing community events and more.
- Something is missing in the “Metaverse” or “Internet in 3D” space. This part could fill up the entire article. More on this at another time. We see a gap and an opportunity, one which we think The New Explorers Club can be the answer.
Headquarters under construction
There will, of course, be an amazing The New Explorers Club headquarters in Portals. We’ve started the design process but are early enough to include a lot of community ideas.
We can’t wait to welcome you when the HQ is ready, but just as much to include the community in the design and development process! It’ll be fun.

Collection FAQ
What is the NFT supply?
It’s a 10000 NFT collection. However, no more than 5555 NFTs will ever reach the open market. The rest will be either locked or utilized in various ways outside the market. More on this very soon.
The backstory is that theoretically, The New Explorers Club could be a 10k collection since the way to mint it was from burning a Portals Genesis Citizen Card (a 10k collection). We knew from the start that not everyone would burn to mint, but we did not know the actual final numbers.
As of yesterday, we knew, and we’re now working out the final math and details, and then we’ll announce.
I saw something about airdrops and raffles?
Yes! We did an early snapshot to reward the most active holders and community members. You can read more in this article. We need to finish the second burn and mint phase, and then we’ll do the raffles.
In regards to the airdrop. We have still not announced what it is, but we have teased that one of the utilities of the airdrop will be related to NFT swaps within the collection. That’s all we’ll say for now.
When does the 1/1 reveal?
Did you get a black robot with question marks all over the body? Then hold on to it! It’s a 1/1! There are 21 unique 1/1 robots in total. When the second burn and mint phase ends, then we’ll announce the reveal schedule of The New Explorers Club 1/1 (one-of-one) robots! Stay tuned.
