Note : The Thamizh version of this is here

Life is a story when we look back at it. And one of the most crucial piece in your story that you cannot deny is your father and mother. Parents are crucial in any person’s life. It’s great they supported you all through your childhood and you are what you are today because they sowed the seeds right.

I understand that when you grow old, you start becoming different. Meaning you start seeing the world differently from what they taught you to. You start forming your own opinions, start moulding your belief systems based on these newly formed opinions, and start connecting with your inner conscience much deeper and thereby realising a newer self as time progresses. I agree … all of us go through this phase sooner or later, depending on our experiences and how we respond to them in life.

But throughout your life journey, it is crucial to support your parents until their last breath, no matter how different they might be. Yes, there may be so many things you may not agree with them on. There might be umpteen differences which might lead to arguments, fights, and resentments. You have had them with your parents, I have had them with mine, So for and everybody does at one time or another in life. Having said all that, it’s wrong to deny the past and act as if it never happened. They created you in this world. Without them, you wouldn’t be here today. So for that one reason, make sure you support them and care for them until their last breath. Never make them feel they have been abandoned, because they made do many sacrifices to make sure you didn’t feel that way when you were a kid. So make them feel you are with them to support them, and they can always rely on you to be for them when they need you. After all, that’s all they ask for, at this old age. Not money. Not any position. Not any status. Not any fancy dress. All they ask for is love, care and support. Can you make yourself a promise today to give them that, until their last breath?

If this post changed at least one person’s life for the better, I’ve achieved the purpose of this. Thank you!
