Productivity apps: Notion

I’ve seen several articles about Notion here on Medium, so I didn’t want to do another article talking about the same subject and explaining how it works, since it has several very good ones explaining including some very complex structures.

My experience with Notion is one of abandonment and return: I adapted to August Bradley’s system and dropped out (in part). And maybe come back at some point.

I know it might seem a bit narrow-minded, but for me, the positives traits that stand out the most are:

  • Ability to be online on almost any platform, including the browser;
  • the vastness of services that the free plan offers.

❗The problem, I think, is actually not limited to Notion. When I started putting together a very large structure, I noticed that I got lost in its pages, and I think that says more about me than about the app. I know they are making constant improvements, but at the time it was a little slow to load when a page had a lot of information too, but that also says about our society in constant rush and can’t wait a few seconds to open a document.

Another positive trait I think is its malleability, in which almost anyone can adapt it to their demands, including people who use it as note taking organized by themes and tags.

Like Obsidian, as Notion has a free architecture to organize as you see fit, for those who don’t know how to use it, nor are clear on how to organize their own life, the best case is to check how other references on the subject use it to and try to adapt to our particular need.

In fact, this is the lesson I always think about in my texts and references. It’s a bit of a pragmatic read, but I always try to see the idiosyncratic methods of others as they can serve my purposes, and I recommend that you do the same.

I believe I’m a little out of date on the main references about Notion, now that the app has become billionaire and has millions of users all over the world, there must be a lot more people talking and showing the most innovative ways to use it than I can imagine.
