An Update on PUNKS Comic

PUNKS Comic Issue #1 was Pixel Vault’s genesis digital token and highlights how storytelling has always been at the core of our products. Beginning with 16 characters inspired by CryptoPunks, their adventures continue to be told by full-length comics and our Origin Stories series. As 2022 comes to a close, the below update provides an early look into the PUNKS Comic direction for 2023 which is focused on supply reduction.

PUNKS PFP

Last June, we shared that after PUNKS Comic Issue #3, our comics would come at no additional cost and tokens would unlock through holding a PUNKS PFP. The PUNKS PFP is under development and is expected to launch in 2023. Holders of PUNKS Comic Issues #1–3 will still be eligible for a free PUNKS PFP once released.

PUNKS Comic Set 1

PUNKS Comic Set 1 will contain the first six issues. We are well underway with PUNKS Comic Issue #4, and it has an expected release date of Q1 2023. PUNKS Comic Issue #4 will be released alongside a fully-revamped punkscomic.com website and integration into The Vault. Issues 5 and 6 will follow afterward.

There will be no charge for PUNKS Comic issues #4–6. Similar to Origin Stories, upcoming issues of PUNKS Comic digital tokens can only be minted by burning previous issues with a new twist — comic burns will be cumulative for each successive issue. What this means is that the number of comics needed to be burned will increase with each future issue.

• PUNKS Comic Issue #4 can be minted by burning copies of Issue #2 + Issue #3
• PUNKS Comic Issue #5 can be minted by burning copies of Issue #2 + Issue #3 + Issue #4
• PUNKS Comic Issue #6 can be minted by burning copies of Issue #2 + Issue #3 + Issue #4 + Issue #5
• Holders of digital tokens that also have a PixelPass attached will be airdropped collector’s editions of Issues #4–6 without any burn requirements.

There are a few exclusions from the burn mechanics, including:

• All versions of PUNKS Comic Issue #1
• All Elite Ape Collector’s Editions of PUNKS Comic Issue #2
• All Collector’s and Holo/Signed Editions of PUNKS Comic Issue #3
• All to-be-released Collector’s Editions of PUNKS Comic Issues #4–6

To improve access to a wider audience, going forward all comics will be free to read without any token-gating. Holding PUNKS Comic digital tokens will unlock benefits for collectors such as physical comics and future activations within the broader Pixel Vault ecosystem.

PUNKS Comic Physical Claims

We appreciate everyone’s patience in waiting for their physical comics. Due to the mechanics of how PUNKS Comic Issues #4–6 will be minted, the physical claim for issues 2–6 will reopen after PUNKS Comic Issue #6 has been released. At Pixel Vault, we recognize the appeal of scarcity with regard to collectibles, and this window will allow for the physical circulation of Issues #2–6 to match that of the underlying digital tokens after all burns have been completed. Collectors will also be able to select physical versions of Collector and Holo edition comics while the claim window is open.

Holders of the full set will also qualify for a bound copy of PUNKS Comic Issues #1–6. Holding any version of a PUNKS Comic will count towards the set reward. For example, holding an Elite Ape Collector’s Edition would count towards the PUNKS Comic Issue #2 requirement. However, there will only be one version of the bound book regardless of what tier comics were used to complete the set.

Origin Stories

Issues of Origin Stories will continue in 2023 utilizing the previously announced mechanics, and will also be integrated into The Vault alongside PUNKS Comic.
