Rainbows yay!

Rainbows are the lollipops of the sky! They decorate the big blue with streaks of wondrous color.

And yet, the beauty of a rainbow should also invite solemn thoughts.

After all, the first rainbow appeared only after God destroyed almost all life on earth with the Flood.

First the flood, then the rainbow

Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sin was unleashed into the world.

As time passed, the human population increased. Unfortunately, humanity’s sin and depravity increased as well.

The Flood was divine judgment on the entire world.

All humanity, except for Noah and his family, died. The only animals that survived were the ones tucked safely aboard the ark with Noah.

The origin of the rainbow

When the waters receded, God gave Noah and company orders to disembark.

Then He promised Noah, all humanity and all animals that the earth would never again be destroyed by water.

It’s called the Noahic covenant.
