This article offers a step-by-step guide for artists interested in minting their own Bitcoin Art Stamps (not SRC-20, SRC-20 guide here), using the RareStamp platform. It simplifies the minting process from the initial file upload to the final payment.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE:⚠️

BITCOIN STAMPS IS STILL VERY NEW, THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION. EXPECT THE MINTING PROCESS TO BE SLOW OR THAT YOUR TRANSACTION MADE EARLIER CAN BE OVERRUN BY ANOTHER ONE THAT PAYS HIGHER FEES. DO NOT SPEND MONEY YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE.

RareStamp uses the minting API developed by Stampchain. If you have any problems during your minting, please contact the Minting Support team at https://t.me/mintingsupport.

To get started go to RareStamp’s minting page https://www.rarestamp.xyz/minting

“Dive into the universe of Bitcoin Stamps. In this guide, we will show you how to mint your own Stamp in a simple, safe, and economical way with RareStamp.”

Step 1: File Upload

To start, you will need to upload your Stamp file. RareStamp accepts files up to 7KB and 8200 characters in base64 (when uploading the image, the website creates the base 64 of that image, if an error occurs, it is possible that the base 64 is larger than allowed, so you will have to optimize the image to create your Stamp). Make sure your file meets these requirements before uploading it.

Step 1: File Upload

Step 2: Provide Details

Next, you will need to enter the Legacy or Segwit (Not with Taproot wallets as it generates incompatibilities) address of Bitcoin, decide whether you want to lock the active supply (recommended as it indicates that the creator cannot change the supply of the Stamp), and specify the number of Stamps you wish to mint (it can be 1/1 or 1/x).

Step 2: Provide Details

Step 3: Check price & Confirm your Stamp

Be sure to review the pricing information for minting your Stamp (“Check price”). The cost of minting varies depending on the congestion of the Mempool and the weight of the file. If you want to proceed with the payment of the mint click on “Confirm Stamp”.

Step 3: Check price & Confirm your Stamp

Step 4: Pay the Mint

Once you have reviewed the details, send the amount indicated in “Total to Pay” (we recommend using Freewallet) to the address indicated in “Transfer Address.”

You can copy the shipping address at RareStamp as well as the amount to pay with the copy icon.

1º Select “Send Funds”
2º Enter the destination address to pay the mint (copied in RareStamp) and the amount to pay (also copied in RareStamp).

Step 5: Minting Process

Payment confirmation triggers the minting process. Expect to receive your Stamp at your Bitcoin address within 1 to 24 hours. To see the complete process after the minting payment, consult this article

Minting FAQs

What is the process in minting a Stamp?

Minting on RareStamp is a service that allows you to create your Stamp in a simple, secure and inexpensive way. We have partnered with Stampchain, which offers the best API on the market in terms of cost and durability, as it is the only one that uses Keyburn technology.

This means that Stamps cannot disappear if the creator spends their UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Output).

If you want to understand the minting process in-depth after payment, follow this guide.

Take into Account

  • Currently, users can only create one Stamp at a time (we are working on mass minting).
  • The file size limit is 7KB and 8,200 characters in base 64.
  • In addition, users must use a Legacy address (starting with 1…, such as 18Djme8XAtKHNRM43Jc8HswucHKe57MBub) and should not use SegWit or Taproot addresses for the Bitcoin address of the creator/owner.
  • The cost includes the transaction fees which vary depending on the weight of the file and the mempool congestion affecting the sat/vB. Also the sending of dust to different addresses to encrypt the contents of the Stamp in the UTXOs and make it immutable. The platform charges a 20% fee on the cost of gas and dust transfer to different wallets. The cost shown on our platform already includes this 20% fee. To know the exact cost of minting your Stamp, visit the minting page, fill in the required details, and select ‘Check Price’.
Bitcoin transaction fees at the time of writing. https://mempool.space/
  • Your Stamp will be issued under the artist/creator’s wallet address provided
