Step-by-Step Instructions

Please note: Some of the screen captures might be outdated by the time you read the instructions below. However, the information in our guides is still valid. Many companies release new versions of their programs. Always use the most up-to-date release.

Step 1:

Step 2:

  • Download the Komodo wallet, called Agama. You can find it here.
  • Agama can be downloaded for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. See the picture below.

Step 3:

  • Open the zip file once it has downloaded. Run the Agama application.
  • A setup wizard will open. Install the wallet.

Step 4:

  • When the wallet is done installing, click on “Finish.” See the picture below.

Step 5:

  • You may get a security alert.
  • Allow Agama to connect to private networks like your home or work networks. See the picture below.

Step 6:

  • The Agama wallet will open. See the picture below.
  • To start, you’ll need to activate a coin. Click “Use A Shortcut” and select Komodo (KMD) from the drop-down menu under the “Lite (SPV)” mode.

Step 7:

  • Click “Create new wallet.” See the picture below.

Step 8:

  • Next, set up your wallet seed, seed encrypt key, and custom PIN file name.
  • All of this should be stored in a safe location. See the pictures below.
  • First is the wallet seed. Use the “Iguana (256 bits)” seed. This is a 24-word phrase that can be used to restore your wallet.
  • After saving it in a safe location, confirm the wallet seed (copy and paste it to the line below).
  • Next, encrypt your seed. This is to protect your locally stored seed.
  • Set up a password or PIN and confirm it in the line below. See the picture below.
  • Finally, give the PIN file a custom name. See the picture below.
  • When you’re done, click “Register.”

Step 9:

  • Now that your wallet is set up, sign in by using your newly created password and clicking “Sign in.” See the picture below.

Step 10:

  • A picture of the active Agama wallet is below. Notice that your address is listed on the top left.
  • Send your KMD to this address. Keep in mind that you need at least 10 KMD to take part in the staking rewards.

Step 11:

  • You are now staking with Komodo. Here are some details you should know:
  • The 5% reward starts accumulating after an hour if you hold over 10 KMD in your wallet.
  • Your Komodo wallet doesn’t need to be online to earn staking rewards. The only requirement is you control your private key. That means you can’t hold KMD on an exchange and still earn the staking reward.
  • You should also be aware that your KMD coins will be awarded after you make a transaction. And accounts that are inactive for over one month stop getting rewards. So make at least one transaction in your Agama wallet per month to get your KMD staking reward.
  • When you’re ready to collect simply click the “Claim now” button in the middle of your wallet. See the picture below.
