IMPORTANT NOTE: Before you can redeem your ONG, you will first need to hold ONG in your wallet.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Please note: Some of the screen captures might be outdated by the time you read the instructions below. However, the information in our guides is still valid. Many companies release new versions of their programs. Always use the most up-to-date release.

Step 1:

Step 2:

  • Download an Ontology wallet.
  • You can find the official wallet list from Ontology on the Ontology dApps page.
  • We recommend downloading either OWallet (the desktop wallet) or ONTO (the mobile wallet).
  • OWallet supports Windows, Mac, and Linux users. ONTO supports Android and iOS.
  • In this example, we’ll go over how to download OWallet.

Step 3:

  • Download the latest version of OWallet.
  • You can find the latest version through the Ontology dApps page. See the picture below.

Step 4:

  • Once the wallet opens, save your “Keystore File Path.” The keystore.db file stores your encrypted private keys.
  • Make sure to create a backup of your keystore.db file.
  • To save your keystore.db file, click “Set file path” and select a folder where you would like to store the file. See the picture below.

Step 5:

  • Create an individual wallet.
  • Click the “+” button under the “Individual Wallet” tab.
  • Then, click “Create Wallet.” See the picture below.

Step 6:

  • Name your wallet and set a password. See the picture below.
  • Like your keystore.db file, make sure to save your password in a safe place.
  • When you’re done, click “Next.”

Step 7:

  • Next, you’ll be provided with your public address and key, as well as your private key. You’ll also get a backup of this data through a .dat file.
  • Save all information in a safe location and click “Next.”
  • You now have a working Ontology wallet.

Step 8:

  • Send your ONT to your Ontology wallet.
  • Remember, you were given your public address in Step 7. Send your ONT to this address.

Step 9:

  • Here’s how to claim ONG…
  • The picture below shows an ONT and ONG balance from OWallet.
  • As you can see, there’s “Claimable ONG” and “Unbound ONG.”
  • Unbound ONG is the amount of ONG which has not been added to your claimable ONG balance yet (since it only updates each time you make a transaction in your wallet address). When a transaction is made in your address, the claimable ONG balance will update. In other words, your unbound ONG will be added to your claimable ONG balance.
  • To convert your unbound ONG to claimable ONG, you need to make a transaction, such as sending ONT to your exchange wallet.
  • Claiming ONG costs a fee of 0.01 ONG.
