Another week, another crack at the tribal dynamics of Survivor 41! Last week, I had JD Robinson as a middle-of-the-road / swing player, so it wasn’t too far out of left field for him to go home. Shan had two opportunities to get JD’s advantage in back-to-back weeks, and now she has eliminated two of three allies on the tribe.

With the players fighting for their lives in possibly the last pre-merge round, let’s look at the Survivor 41 episode 5 power rankings!

Frontrunners

Shan Smith: She is up in powers (extra vote) but down in numbers (JD and Brad). Everything she does goes well, and those who stand in her way get voted out. What more could you ask for?

Evvie Jagoda: Still steering the ship on Yase, the tribe has been doing well and getting more narrative content rather than strategy. The song remains the same.

Deshawn Radden: Though it’s never good to throw a challenge (let alone fail to throw a challenge), the fact that everyone on Luvu trusts him and that he has Evvie’s support at the merge sets himself up well. Thankfully, the power rankings don’t look at edgic!

In the Mix

Liana Wallace: Though there’s not much going on lately at Yase, Liana’s positioning remains strong.

Ricard Foyé: Just like Shan, Ricard continues to get out people that were targeting him. His upside? He’s not getting blood on his hands.

Danny McCray: Danny attempted what he labeled as a “cardinal sin” in throwing a challenge, yet he failed his task. That does not bode well for his gameplay agency, even if he has protection from his tribe. He will become a target once the merge arrives.

Tiffany Seely: As much as Tiffany got off to a slow start, she’s been low-key instrumental to the tribe’s latest successes as seen in the Reward Challenge and has been correct in her calls given in confessionals.

Middle of the Road / Swing Players

Heather Aldret: We finally know something about Heather; she’s not that great at challenges. However, she seemed to have the support of the tribe, let alone the rest of the castaways. That’s nice!

Naseer Muttalif: He’s so good at challenges that he snapped victory for his tribe from the jaws of defeat forced by Danny and Deshawn.

Sydney Segal: Though Erika targeted her, Sydney had two players willing to throw a challenge just to vote out her opponent. She could still go home this week, and that’s more based on the reminded hints of villainy.

In Trouble / Potential Targets

Xander Hastings: It seems as though Xander has been playing with his life. He’s led the effort to keep Yase out of Tribal Council, and without a vote and being on the outs of the women’s alliance, he seems poised for a flip after the merge. All he needs to do is get there.

Erika Casupanan: You don’t suddenly get so eager to play Survivor on Day 9 that you start throwing out names unnecessarily. She has three people on Luvu against her, unbeknownst to Erika. That’s hard not to recognize.

Genie Chen: I sincerely doubt Shan, nor Ricard, would keep Genie over the other, so she would likely go home if Ua had to go to Tribal Council once again.
