October-The Month of Falling into a better you!

This week I decided to read “The Art of Fear” by Kristen Ulmer, this book will help you to rise above your fears and get over what is holding you back.

I will be discussing:

1. Shifting Fear To Fearless

2. Change Your Reaction

3. Appreciate And Celebrate The Small Wins

And be sure to read my last blog on “Book Review: How To Become More Sure Of Yourself” & “FREE Download: October Desktop Wallpapers”.

If I could some up this book into one word it would have to be the word Fear: an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.

1. Shifting Fear To Fearless

As clique, as it may sound the easiest way to overcome our fears, is by taking them head-on. Of course, I’m not the best person to speak on conquering fears since I tremble and shudder whenever I speak in public, but I am constantly looking for new ways to rid myself of this issue. It’s easier to try to become fearless when you are aware of what you fear and have to be willing to do what scares you until it no longer does.

Don’t fear failure because I guarantee you are not the only one who has failed before, accept this fact and you should no longer let it intimidate you. You may still have issues dealing with embarrassment but this is bound to happen when you are shifting from fear to fearless. Don’t allow this to stop your growth, when they go home they will forget and start thinking about the problems and insecurities they face. Instead, remember why you want to shift this fear into fearlessness and invest your time into ways to reduce your anxiety in what you fear.

2. Change Your Reaction

Life happens whether we are ready or not, and nothing is certain but we can control the way we handle our reaction. Change can come with things we have never seen or done before and try to avoid them until life basically forces you into these situations. In order to successfully deal with change, we must understand that this is just a natural part of life. But there are ways to ease our fears of change:

  1. Change is life and life means change
  2. Understand and accept your situation
  3. Failure Means Your Growing
  4. Appreciate and Celebrate the small wins
  5. Patience is Key

3. Appreciate And Celebrate The Small Wins

As crazy I understand that we should always strive and work to reach our goals but we should also be able to step back and celebrate the things we have done. To get closer to our dreams, and even if we haven’t accomplished them overnight does mean our efforts to reach them aren’t valid. Or that when we do reach them we never feel satisfied because were always jumping to the next goal.

When we are working to achieve a major goal it is important to celebrate the benchmarks, just and admire what you were able to do. Take a day off or even a mini getaway with close friends to celebrate and motivates you to keep pushing forward. Think back on why and where you started and how far you have come, did reach the goals you set or did they change. No matter what you were able to take action to reach this major achievement.

Would I Buy Or Read Again?

Can I see myself re-reading Kristen Ulmer’s book “The Art of Fear” again? YES! Can I see myself even purchasing “The Art of Fear”? No, I enjoyed the book but I can’t see myself purchasing it for my library, I liked it but I don’t love it.

The Question of the Week is inspired by Kristen Ulmer’s book “The Art of Fear”. Do you see the beauty in your fears?

Answer: I can and know that by conquering them nothing can hold me back.
