This article has my original updated resume to help you bust some common myths!

Last year I wrote a blog on My resume which landed me a job as a analyst Under 6 months which is the most viewed post till date, and now I thought of sharing how I build my new resume based on the learnings I accumulated in these years.

This is how it looks like now. Lets see how I made this resume which is ATS friendly and has all the keywords to land a job as a Business Analyst.

Navigating the intricacies of resume design can be tricky. Let’s debunk common myths to ensure your resume stands out for the right reasons.

  1. Infographic Resumes: Opt for a clean PDF format over distracting infographics.
  2. Aesthetic Choices: Stick to classic fonts (Times New Roman, Calibri, Arial) and avoid flashy colors.
  3. Font Size: Aim for 8.5–9 points
  4. Skill Ratings: Skip the proficiency bars; let achievements and experiences speak for themselves.

Summary, Education, Skills —

The motive is to combine Work History , keywords and achievements in your profile summary. You need to add most important core skills in the summary and sub set of skills to do the job.

I used Chatgpt entirely to make my recent resume. This tool has helped me so much in the past few months, My god!! Meanwhile you can type prompts like below to get what you want —

  1. Can you help me create a professional summary for a Business Analyst with 1.5 years of experience?
  2. What are the key attributes and skills to highlight for a data-driven Business Analyst?
  3. How can I craft a summary that emphasizes proficiency in data analysis and business process modeling?
  4. Can you provide a concise summary that showcases experience in BI partnership and KPI identification?
  5. What phrases or keywords should I use to emphasize problem-solving skills and analytical acumen in a Business Analyst’s summary?
  6. Could you assist me in summarizing a Business Analyst’s abilities in optimizing business processes and supporting strategic decision-making?
  7. Please generate a summary for a Business Analyst that reflects a passion for leveraging insights from complex datasets.
  8. What should I include in a summary to highlight a Business Analyst’s ability to recommend actionable improvements?
  9. How can I create a summary that portrays a Business Analyst as proficient in ensuring data accuracy?
  10. What elements should be present in a summary to highlight a Business Analyst’s end-to-end BI expertise?

For adding core skills, you can type prompts like —

  1. Give me a list of ATS keywords or key skills required in <role>

2. Give me a list of ATS keywords or core skills required in <role>

3. Give me a list of core skills from this job description

Based on your understanding you can add it in your skill section.

In the digital age of recruitment, it’s paramount to create a resume that seamlessly navigates Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and captures the attention of Talent Acquisition professionals. The ultimate goal is to not only make your resume readable for computers but to ensure it stands out, prompting that coveted interview call.

Professional Experience —

  1. Write a work Experience in bullet points and not a paragraph.

2. Recent experience should be on the top and follow the chronology

3. Write the impact driven points, what impact you created in your job and not the roles and responsibilities.

All the bullet points should be in this format —

Action verbs -> task or project or tool -> numbers

You should proceed this way:

  • What you did and what it led to- Explain it in a point what you did and how it impacted the business (Focus on the outcome and not the responsibilities)
  • Volume specific numbers — Numbers are pretty attractive in your resume, so you can write numbers, but if you haven’t done much then you can simply make up this number because the interviewer will never ask you how you achieved this number

And obviously you can play with your prompts and make your points more attractive by using ChatGPT.

I’m not repeating obvious things like —
Don’t add your hobbies like Swimming, Cooking etc. since I mentioned this already on my previous article.

This blog is just an upgrade to the previous article to keep you informed with my recent learnings ;) Mail me for any doubts, would be happy to help.
