A Nintendo Switch accessories manufacturer has posted details on the console’s upcoming successor including 4K graphics capability, a new screen, new Joy-Con controllers, backward compatibility, and more.

Mobapod shared some details on Switch 2 via its Bilibili page. According to the post, the tablet will have a larger screen capable of 1080p resolution and larger Joy-Cons with magnetic connectivity. The tablet will also be compatible with last-gen Joy-Cons and cartridges but not vice versa.

Additionally, the Switch 2 dock will have a USB-C port like before but will also be capable of outputting 4K resolution on the bigger screen. The full details are as follows:

1. The Bluetooth chip of Switch 2 still supports existing Joy-Con and Pro controllers and still features HD vibration (ALPS dual-axis linear motor).

2. Switch 2 has backward compatibility with Switch 1 cartridges, but Switch 2 cartridges will be different and won’t fit on Switch 1.

3. The new joycons are larger and are magnetically attached to the console with an electromagnet. The SL and SR buttons are metallic now, and there’s a new button behind each joy-con (location where the button is) and a new button below the home button on the right joy-con (location where the button is)

4. The dock still has a USB-C port and will also support 4K image output.

5. The new kickstand also has a damping bracket on the back for improved angle adjustment.

6. The screen is bigger, up to 8 inches and the resolution is upgraded to 1080p.

Mobapod’s post holds a lot of credibility for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it’s backed up by another credible source: Pyroro is a highly credible Nintendo news leaker, especially on Switch-related news.

Secondly, the details correspond with previous leaks; the most recent being the magnetic Joy-Cons released a day ago. Analysts also speculate that the Switch 2 will have a lot in common with its predecessor in design given its success with it.

Of course, all leaks remain skeptical until Nintendo has the last word. Unfortunately, the big N isn’t saying anything so it’s best to stay tuned for updates. In related news, Nintendo has pushed the launch of the Switch 2 to 2025 to combat scalping, according to other sources.
