In 3 weeks we will celebrate the new year 2023. New Year celebrations are something normal that we do every year. But what about our lives? Is there something we need to celebrate before the year 2022 ends?

I have been writing on this platform for over 6 months now. If there’s anything I need to celebrate this year, it’s being thankful for being one of Medium’s top writers in some topic categories.

As a long-time reader and fan of this platform, I never thought that one day I would be a writer and spend so much time on this platform. And to become one of the top writers within 3 months, that exceeded my expectations.

Celebrations are not just about extraordinary achievements. It’s also about the little things that matter. They motivate our lives and sustain the qualities we have that make it happen.

Here are 9 reasons why celebration is important for our lives:

1. To have a good memory

Have you ever had a good memory when celebrating something? Whether in your personal or professional life. Perhaps you have just received a promotion, won a reward, or received many good compliments from guests and clients.

What do you think about that moment? Did you have a good memory of it? The same can happen in your personal life. Be it the celebration of your parent’s wedding anniversary, birthday, or family reunion.

Whenever I think of the past, it brings back so many memories. — Steven Wright

2. Be present

Many people are stuck in their past. Even though the past is not equal to the future. We become more present when we have celebrated something important and special in our current lives. Because we sense that such moments do not happen every day.

This makes us alert and attentive to everything that surrounds us. When we celebrate special occasions, we also become aware of ourselves and the people who are close and important to us.

3. To see how far we’ve come

Have you felt good after celebrating something in life? According to hbr.org celebration is an event, not a destination. It’s the little pause where we survey the road we’ve traveled and the mountain we’ve climbed.

Celebrating achievements great and small is high-octane fuel for further achievement. We don’t just celebrate the win; we celebrate to win. It’s the best moment to contemplate, and take a deep breath before we continue on the next journey.

I collect memories. I look for opportunities to try new things, go to new places, and meet new people all the time. — Marcel Wanders

4. Find out something to improve

The moment of celebration is the time when you can rest. After working hard for weeks, months, or maybe years. Finally, you can have what you want. At this moment, after a long journey, you can find out something. Be it new ideas, tools, ways, and things you need to improve. What do you want to improve after the moment of celebration?

5. Bring positive influence to others

How do you celebrate things that are important in your life?

In 2021, I decided to donate my birthday to orphans in my hometown. I did not have a specific purpose. I just wanted the year of my birthday to have more meaning and I thought it was the right decision I made. It feels good to see the smiles of these children when I visit them.

Many public figures use special occasions in their lives to make a positive impact and raise the awareness of others. Whether it is fundraising, mental health, or humanitarian issues. The way we celebrate something can also affect the lives of many people.

6. Appreciate what we have

Are you aware of how many things you have? Be it friends, health, family, skills, or influence? Celebrated milestones, big or small things can make you aware and acknowledge something you did not even know you had. This will help you learn to appreciate and cherish these things.

7. Be grateful and attract abundance

When you have celebrated the milestone and are grateful for it, it can invite plenty into your life. You shift your focus from the outside to the inside. Scarcity thinking then has no place.

When you focus your attention on what you already have instead of what you do not have. The more positive energy you have, the stronger your magnetic ability.

Have you ever been inspired to do more by a celebration? What you do in life can inspire you to be better, and it can inspire other people as well.

It’s not just about work, business, or money. It is about the whole aspect of life, be it family, health, or spiritual. For example, publishing books, building a school, starting a new community, etc.

9. Increase motivation

Do you happy when you celebrate something? According to fullfocus.co celebration can release endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and all the lesser-known chemicals of joy. Dopamine is your own personal motivation machine. It is the secret to getting pumped and hitting goals.

There are a lot of positive feelings at the moment of celebration. Also, unforgettable memories and a lot of appreciation for what you have done. This can boost your self-confidence and increase your motivation to do and achieve more.
