5starts incubator concludes second batch with Demo Day and winning achievements
Start-ups from Vienna incubator programme 5starts presented their winning pitches on 17 November to critical acclaim.
The second batch of Vienna’s premier start-up accelerator concluded its final day of the programme with home-run pitches by FinTech & AdTech start-ups handcheque, Vienna Würstelstand and Folyo, garnering the attention of the national press and audience alike.
The motto of the night was “See what 5 months of incubation can do to your start-up”, and the presentations did not disappoint.
3 start-ups — handcheque, Vienna Würstelstand and Folyo — presented their own mile-stones that they were able to achieve during their time of mentorship at 5starts.
handcheque is a smart-card that combines all payments and loyalty cards on one card, no bigger than a regular credit-card. The start-up is currently looking for a banking partner to roll out in Austria and is looking for investment to cover other European markets in a next step.
- handcheque presented a working prototype of the card at Demo Day, as well as a functioning interaction between smartphone app and card.
- handcheque was able to attract their Business Developer Michael Bratl (10+ years experience in payment) with the help of 5starts.
- Found their CTO Christoph Witzany (experienced in developing banking software) with the help of the 5starts.
- Established investor relationships, which they aim to leverage in Q2 2017
- Launched their public website.
Folyo is making outdoor advertising measurable, trackable and scalable. Folyo grew from a one-man-show to a team of three and developed a dashboard platform, mobile app and a fleet of over 200 registered Uber-drivers, who are currently rolling out their first campaigns. Folyo is looking for advertising clients and investment to expand to Germany in 2017.
- Folyo officially launched in November 2016.
- Found their CTO through 5starts.
- Established sales-processes through the programme.
- Developed a creative Direct Mailing to their high potential customers.
Vienna Würstelstand leveraged their ability to influence the lifestyle decisions of Vienna’s millennials by starting their own creative agency and have already worked with branding campaigns for customers such as AirBnB.
- VW stablished an editorial process through the programme and sales-processes.
- Established a solid business model.
- Launched the Pow.Bang.Boom creative agency.
All 3 start-ups also received special awards from our perks partners, including aws IP consulting, expansion coaching from Wirtschaftsagentur Wien, user experience and technology acceptance workshops from AIT and investment readiness workshops from aws Gründerfonds, as well as three extra months at sektor5 coworking space for all three start-ups.
