Now, let’s get into today’s post, shall we?

Day 7 — “Start Learning a New Language.”

Well, I won’t select which language you should learn.

I humbly leave that choice to you :)

BUT,

in this post, I would particularly focus on why you should learn a new language in the first place and how does it link with your Personal Growth.

Ready?

Let’s get started!

1. Boost in your brain power.

A lot of research studies have been carried out time and again and it is evident from their results that bilingual or multilingual people have better cognitive abilities than monolingual people.

They are known to have more gray matter in their brains, which is responsible for processing information and memory.

And they supposedly have improved skills that helps them plan, multitask and solve problems.

It is also understood that learning a new language can delay the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in older adults. Read more about this study in the link here.

2. Improved communication skills.

It is natural that when you learn a new language, you also learn about the culture, history and values of the people who speak it. This then helps you to understand different perspectives of life and most importantly, to appreciate diversity.

And as a result, you tend to communicate more effectively with people from different backgrounds and countries which can then open up new opportunities for you in your personal and professional life too.

Being familiar with an additional language also makes you comfortable in making new friends and to expand your social network.

3. Improved confidence and self-esteem.

Being familiar with an additional language is a very rewarding feeling.

You feel proud of yourself for achieving your goals and overcoming the challenges that come with learning a new dialect - written or spoken.

You also feel more confident in expressing yourself and sharing your ideas with others (even if you’re a beginner :) )

And most importantly, you discover new aspects of yourself and your identity in return.

As you can see, merely by learning a new language or even being familiar with it can help you grow as a person in so many ways.

Remember, learning a new language is not only a skill, but also a gift!

A gift that you can give to yourself and to others and likewise, it makes you smarter and more successful.

So, don’t hesitate! Pick a language that interests you and make an effort to learn it today!

And don’t forget to have fun along the way. Because learning a language is not a chore, it's an adventure. An adventure that can change your life for the better!

You won’t regret it. Trust me, I know :)

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and drop in your claps if you too are bi-lingual or multi-lingual like me :)

And please share it with your friends and family for comments and let me know! I would love to hear from you.
