It’s been a while since we did our weekly update (to the point where it might be a little bit of a joke to call it a weekly update) but we do have an excuse for our tardiness on social media…
The smallest and most hard working team in crypto has been busy beavering away on the Slips TestNet launch for the last few weeks!
Our hard work is starting to paying off because we are getting ever closer to releasing the platform itself. In our last update we mentioned that we designed a specification for a wallet. A few weeks later we have an Android mobile application ready for download and a way for users to purchase “TestNet” Slips tokens using monopoly money that we’ve sent to everyone registered on our system.
As you already know, we are self funded … we have to pay our bills and find some way to squeeze in developing a blockchain project whilst competing with our huge and well funded competitors for eye-balls. Luckily they don’t seem to be in that much of a hurry to launch a well designed successful product! So hopefully using our nimbleness as a strength, not only will we squeeze in before them, we will have a better product to boot as well.
The rest of this update will explain what we have been working on recently and what the plan for the roll out is over the next week or so!

Some important information about our tokens!
Since a lot of people join our Telegram channel and ask us this question, we thought we would clarify the difference between Slips and Slips Lite. Just what the heck are these tokens?
First let’s talk about Slips Lite token.
You will notice that when you login to the admin control panel, it tells you that you have earned 100.00 Slips Lite tokens for registering.
These Slip Lite tokens will never be taken away from you! They are actual tokens that will be used in the MainNet.
If you are one of the many that have used your referral link to spread the word about Slips, each person that joined used your unique referral link will have earned you an additional 100.00 Slips Lite. Some of our users have referred 100s of users and are sitting on hefty Slips Lite balances!
When our platform launches, you will be able to use Slips Lite as a way to bet without going through the hassle of KYC checks. It’s a quick and easy, frictionless way to enjoy Slips … but that’s not all! Slips Lite can also be used to pay to create channels, customise your profile, use the match making functionality and all sorts of other features on the platform.
The more Slips Lite you have, the more you will enjoy Slips when it eventually launches.
You cannot however, take Slips Lite and transfer them onto another wallet or exchange. They do not have any value outside our platform.
The Slips token however is a completely different matter. It is a normal cryptocurrency token that will be traded on exchanges. As it will be based on the ERC-233 standards, it can also be moved onto wallets such as MyEtherWallet.
Here are the major differences between Slips and Slips Lite:
- There is a limited supply of Slips. But there is an unlimited supply of Slips Lite which can be minted at any time.
- Slips is a normal ERC-223 token which you can transfer once you receive to a wallet or an exchange. Slips Lite cannot be transferred.
- In order to deposit Slips into your Slips Platform account, you will need to do KYC checks. Slips Lite has no monetary value so we do not need to do any checks before allowing you to bet with Slips Lite.
You will eventually be able to buy Slips during our token sale event. However you can also earn actual Slips tokens right now by registering for our airdrop OR participating in our bounty campaign.
However before the launch of mainnet, there is a slight twist!
We are going to give people TestNet Slips tokens, but unlike the real tokens, these are not transferrable! When the MainNet is launched, these tokens will be destroyed and will not be usable.
The way to get these tokens is to buy them from our fake exchange (more about this later on) using the free “USD” balance we give each person for using the exchange. You will not be able to withdraw money from the exchange however. Remember this is not the real tokens, but just a placeholder that we use during the testing phase.
Anyway we will explain more later, first let’s give you an update on how far we have got with the wallet!
Downloadable Wallet APK and Mobile HTML Wallet app
Before we could start building out the platform itself, we needed a way to educate our users on how to use Slips, which is going to be very different to non-cryptocurrency platforms such as ArcaneBet and Player’s Lounge.
When Slips is launched, users will need to purchase Slips tokens and transfer them to the platform. Are non cryptocurrency users going to find that intuitive? We don’t know but the first step was to design a wallet that would allow users to manage their tokens.
You might already have seen some of the designs we posted in our last update. Sadly we have not got around to making the actual product as beautiful as it appears on the mocks yet!
However we have produced a fully functional wallet, that allows you to login and manage your balances. You can send requests to people by email to send you money and of course you can send money yourself to other Slips wallet users and to the Slips Exchange.
There are still a few issues with the wallet, but they should be resolved by the end of the week. We aim to polish things off and smoothen the rough edges that are currently present but despite that, it would be helpful to have users test the wallet in it’s current state!

Block Explorer
Earlier this week we also announced that we had created a Block Explorer. If you have experience with using Block Explorers for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, you will not find this one to be too complex or difficult to understand!
We have created a test blockchain for Slips. We hope to use Ethereum eventually but for now we did not want to concern ourselves with the limitations of the network, confuse our users with “Gas” fees and having to bother with downloading browser plugins such as MetaMask.
The test blockchain has a few limitations to simulate some of the conditions we would experience. For example, there is a blocksize limit which limits the network to 100 transactions per block. For now, blocks are generated every minute. These are configurable values so we will play about with them and find a happy medium once we launch the testnet platform.
The block explorer is a fun way to explore transactions on the network, it was interesting to see who the whales were on our platform and of course some of the eager / inquisitive members in our community have been pondering the significance of the message in the only transaction in our genesis block:
Unfortunately we do not intend to reveal all in this update and we will leave it a mystery for people to figure out what the quote means! :)
Mock TestNet Exchange
As we mentioned earlier, we have created an exchange that allows you to purchase TestNet Slips tokens. This exchange uses the same account that you use to login to the Slips.io website and the wallet. However when you login for the first time, we give each and every single user $1000 in free “testnet” money.

Obviously you can see that our designer has not yet had a chance to work his magic on the exchange, but as of now you can purchase Slips tokens from this exchange.
These Slips tokens can then be withdrawn from the exchange and placed into your wallet. The idea is to show users who are not familiar with cryptocurrencies, how they will be using our platform when it launches. But thankfully our mock exchange comes without the risk of losing their money on a real exchange!
Once tokens are in the wallet, they will most likely be used in transactions or attached to the Slips platform (when live) and used for bets. Eventually a user might want to cash out their winnings? It’s a simple case of depositing the Slips from their wallet to the exchange and selling the Slips for USD or BTC.
As you might imagine, because this is a mock exchange, we cannot allow withdrawals from the exchange in USD/BTC so that’s sadly where the fun ends.
However we are extremely excited that we have reached this stage. We already working on the platform itself now and as you can imagine, it’s been an immense effort for the team to reach this stage.
