Social Kapital is Live, Join us at Venture One
Over the last couple of days, we have weighed the decision whether to postpone the launch of Social Kapital in light of current events. We have decided to go ahead with the launch for the following reasons.
(1) As, I said in a Coin Telegraph interview on the 7th of July 2016, capital is not the key success factor for a decentralised investment fund since the founders and ardent supporters of Social Kapital, can (and will) buy enough shares to capitalize the fund. Far more valuable is to leverage the collective wisdom of an intellectually diverse community to create value.
(2) A blockchain contract is the most secure way of storing and manipulating digital value and will continue to be so. We cannot standstill because the current news cycle is negative.
The Crowdsale
A 60 day crowdsale starts at 15.00 GMT today. This event is really much more than a crowdsale, because all those that believe in the Social Kapital business model (shareholders and non shareholders) are invited to join us at Venture One for a singular purpose.
That purpose will be to collaborate, to develop and to launch a disruptive blockchain business funded by Social Kapital. This start-up will demonstrate the power of the underlying idea behind Social Kapital. Thus the notion that the crowd, if channeled correctly, is a far more valuable factor of production than capital.
In the current climate of fear and uncertainty, we thought it was worthwhile to produce a security statement about our smart contracts. Our code was published at github for public review and we have had a 154 ether unclaimed bounty which was offered to white hats.
You do not need to be a shareholder to be part of the Social Kapital story. However, Social Kapital shareholders deserve to be rewarded well for the risk they are talking, that is why those buying in at day 45 to 60 pay a 5% premium. We expect this premium to rise steeply in future as the organisation creates value.
