Generating contours and cliffs with OL Laser
2 min readApr 1, 2017
I used OL Laser to generate files containing contour and cliff data. I prefer the way OL Laser handles cliff data, compared to Karttapullautin.
Run OL Laser, then:
- Open your LiDAR data file (it can take a little while). Use the ‘open laserfile’ button.
- Let OL Laser to some preparation by pressing the ‘Create GRD/TIN’ button
- Under ‘O-Map objects’ select ‘Contours’ and then ‘Create objects’. The process is fast, but you won’t see the results until the next step
- Under ‘Draw’ select the contours.
- You can save the contours as an OCAD data file
- Here’s how it looked for me:
- The process is virtually the same for cliffs. Just select that option under ‘O-Map objects’.
- You can create new parameter sets with your preferences. Use the ‘Maintenance’ menu item. Then use the ‘New’ button.
