I’d like to thank Sefano Raus for his contribution to this project.

In late 2016 and early 2017, Stefano was Orienteering South Australia’s visiting coaching scholar and mapper. He wrote an article in The Australian Orienteer titled “Auto-generated Orienteering Maps” (December 2016, pages 34 & 35).

Stefano presented an orienteering mapping workshop in Canberra over two evenings in March 2017. I had the pleasure of participating. The techniques in this series are mostly based on Stefano’s demonstrations.

This article is part of the Orienteering Mapping with LiDAR, Smartphones and Free Tools series.

Polite and constructive responses are always welcome.

Hopeless at orienteering, rubbish at flying radio controlled planes, but enjoys both activities anyway.
