You are floating in the middle of the way between our galaxy, the Milky Way, and the Large Magellanic Cloud. This place is very quiet and cold; only echoes of Creation’s labors — microwave radiation — permeate emptiness unbeknownst to you. You watch the Milky Way drift gracefully and realize how far away you are from any sizable object. Every star in the galaxy is a gigantic fiery sphere of plasma, but right now it’s a mere speck of dust blurred with the rest. Puts things in perspective.
One more thought comes to your mind: “Why are there these huge bright regions within galaxies’ cores?” Indeed, one can observe overwhelming brightness coming from great distances. You shiver as sudden chill goes down your spine. You close your eyes for just a moment and when you open them again there’s no Milky Way filling the view. Instead, it’s your final destination somewhere in the Large Magellanic Cloud: the accretion disk near a supermassive black hole.
