Connecting back to the previous post of studying the impact of Artificial intelligence in the system of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I started by listing the various elements within the system that I was meaning to capture. Going further, I wanted to understand the relationships of key elements within this system. Using arrows, and depicting the predominant elements within the circles, the challenge was to tie intentions towards/by these elements.

This map led me to question a gap that I found to be existing between 2 of the elements. I sense it to be a starting point for discussions or further research.

After concept mapping, I decided to use the situation of a disconnect between the makers and the UN. Using the Tree diagram and the prompt of “Why does it matter?” and 5 levels of “Why” I reached a response of how people feel that they are connected in this age but do not know how.

The fish bone diagram was another cause and relationships diagram, that helped me to think about the various points of views at to why the disconnect could be taking place between the 2 communities. The diagram offers 6 perspectives that can potentially lead to the situation.

I tried to keep it on paper for these diagram versus the concept map, because I felt I could work on more iterations this way and keep my thoughts fluid. I would using a digital tool to do this may be after the next attempt.

These methods have been useful for getting started! I was feeling that there is probably too much to explore and what could be a great starting point. Doing the concept map and the root cause diagram helped me to gain a point of view for the topic.
