In ONE year, Portland DA Mike Schmidt has Evolved into an Unmitigated Disaster for Portlanders and the Safety and Future of our City!

You Never Have a Second Chance to Make a First Impression: When I first heard the name Mike Schmidt, I drew a blank. He wasn’t someone who had any name recognition for me personally, or for most Portlanders, I suspect. This despite having worked six years as a deputy district attorney under Mike Shrunk, the longtime DA of 32 years, and son of Terry Shrunk. Schmidt was certainly not a household name in the Rose City by the time he announced he would be running for DA of Portland in 2020.
I had lived in Portland my whole life, well over 50 years when Schmidt entered the Portland political scene, but he simply wasn’t anyone I’d ever heard of before. As I’m an author, poet, editor and publisher, it’s not surprising I’d never heard of him, as we both run in entirely different circles. In due time however, I learned he was running for DA of Portland. I remember thinking he looked incredibly young to be taking on such a complex leadership role. From watching him speak in televised interviews, he just didn’t seem mature enough to be the DA of Portland. He seemed socially awkward and overly self-conscious — more like a boy than a man.
What I noticed with the first online photograph of Schmidt that I examined was a discernable expression of smugness, a subtle arrogance. He appeared infinitely self-satisfied and I found the expression concerning. Because in my life I’ve learned what male arrogance or hubris can mean and what it can lead to, which is never anything good. The smugness Schmidt projected in that photograph was hard to miss. It was in the eyes, mostly.
Eventually I read about him at some length, and discovered what his platform was all about — social justice, racial equity, and a general idea of progressive politics, something I found harmonious with my own beliefs and values.
I wasn’t able to vote for him, however. As I live in East Multnomah County, beyond the areas where Portlanders can vote for the Portland Mayor, Portland city commissioners or the DA, and though my address is in NE Portland, I live in an area that has that specific limitation. This is based simply on how far east my home is located.
So, I can say I never voted for Schmidt. At this point, given what I now know about him, I take some pride in being able to say that. The main reason being that the many Portlanders who did vote for Schmidt now seem to bitterly regret having done so, in much the same way countless other voters bitterly regret having voted for the lunatic Donald Trump for example, or the notoriously unproductive, uneducated and uninformed, JoAnn Hardesty.
I can’t say for certain that I would have voted for Schmidt or not, but he looked good at the time, from all initial appearances. Later on, Schmidt easily won the race, though he was also described as an “outsider” by critics. I wondered about how easily he had won the race, knowing as I do that most people tend to vote based on the dynamic of image rather than available information, which requires more effort to obtain, understand and benefit from.
American voters tend to vote for who pleases them aesthetically, and sadly, political candidates have actually lost races due to not being attractive or photogenic enough. In my life it’s something I’ve seen occur again and again over the decades — that most people will vote for a pretty face or a charismatic speaker rather than the person who indeed has the best policies, values, experience or employment track record.
But Schmidt’s values and stated platform seemed to be above reproach. The kind of leader any progressive Portlander would want, and almost too good to be true. So, I pushed aside my initial feelings of doubt and unease, based on my gut feeling about him. To me, he seemed like a typical arrogant, entitled Millennial with an inflated sense of his own self-importance, and so given the situation, I hoped for the best.
Hoping for the best with regard to Mike Schmidt has proven exceedingly short lived for me and for most Portlanders. This reality has many factors, including the global viral Pandemic, but exists in large part due to the extreme challenges our country has faced since the horrific May 25th 2020 murder of George Floyd in Minnesota by dirty cop Derek Chauvin. The callous murder was videotaped for all the world to see and be forever impacted by. I knew the day I saw that heartbreaking video that the world would never be the same. The protests began almost immediately nationwide and Portland was no exception, with violent protests that devolved into violent riots, beginning May 28, 2020.
What started out however, as peaceful demonstrations in downtown Portland quickly evolved into violent riots, with Antifa and Anarchists sabotaging other Portlanders rights to assemble and peacefully demonstrate.
From the beginning of his campaign, Schmidt declared he was going to shake things up. He was going to pursue real justice and, “Major Reform Now.” He was going to break apart a system that he felt was not equitable for people of color. A system that was targeting black men and other people of color in racist and discriminatory ways.
Schmidt seemed to project the feeling that he was The One. The new Great White Savior who was going to make everything right for troubled Portland. But has Portland gotten better since Schmidt signed on as DA? No. Not at all.
Schmidt’s high hopes and aspirations have not materialized. In fact, under his watch, crime, shootings and weekly murders — often murders of people of color, have sky-rocketed in Portland. This is due to the Portland Police Bureau being Defunded by millions of dollars in necessary funding for training and equipment — a money grab promoted and supported by Mayor Ted Wheeler and of course, JoAnn Hardesty.
Hardesty, for one has become notorious for her paranoid hatred of any and all U.S. police, and for her delusions of imaginary police misconduct where none has occurred. Examples of Hardesty’s paranoia include her accusations that PPB officers were starting arson fires rather than the Antifa rioters who were regularly filmed throwing fire bombs and starting the arson fires, themselves. Other instances in which Hardesty demonstrated her extremely poor judgment have occurred when she accused PPB officers of “eating” all day and not doing police work or of being part of a “paramilitary organization” of white supremacists, which apparently includes the Black, Hispanic, Asian and Biracial officers within PPB.
The huge surge in violent crime in Portland, (some say a 300 percent surge) and gun related homicides is also the direct result of the foolish and unwise dissolution of the Gun Violence Reduction Team, which was also promoted by Mayor Ted Wheeler and again, JoAnn Hardesty. In 2021 NINETY persons in Portland were murdered by other citizens, (not by the police) and the dead were mainly young men of color, the most people murdered in Portland since the city was declared a city and was incorporated February 8 of 1851.
With only ONE year into his position as DA it is more than obvious that Mike Schmidt seems to have fooled a lot of people. It is obvious that this is a young man who is a wolf in sheep’s clothing with a lot to hide about his true character and values.
It appears that every person who voted for Schmidt has been fooled in one manner or another. Schmidt has proven himself to be a phony, a fake and a liar. The person we presumed was enlightened, progressive and an advocate for human rights for both men and women has turned out to be a misogynist, a Good Old Boy and a fraud.
SOME NEEDED BACKGROUND: In 2020 Schmidt announced he would run for District Attorney in the May primary election. He eventually beat challenger Ethan Knight, who was an assistant U.S. Attorney, with Schmidt getting 77% of the vote in what some called a “landslide” victory. What is significant though is that Knight was endorsed by the incumbent Rod Underhill and the office’s union — the Multnomah County Prosecuting Attorneys Association. There must be an important reason for that. Did they know something about Mike Schmidt that the general public did not know?
After Schmidt won, and began work as Portland’s DA, he actually began several months early. Governor Kate Brown appointed him to the job August 10 of 2020, rather than January 1 of 2021 for the simple reason that Rod Underhill had retired in July of 2020, but also because the Portland riots were well underway all during June and July of 2020. These realities ushered in Mike Schmidt’s employment early to the DA’s office. And from the very beginning, Schmidt has demonstrated he does not know how to lead.
Even after the militarized Antifa radicals had assaulted Portland citizens, and police, (becoming a notorious embarrassment nationwide for their criminal conduct) Schmidt made it known that he would not prosecute them for their crimes, but would instead go light on them.
White people calling themselves “social justice warriors” who were out committing crimes in the name of Black America and Black Lives Matter, were released again and again. And Schmidt declared he would not prosecute them. Many of these dangerous offenders were charged with serious felonies, but still Schmidt refused to charge them, as other DA’s in the past would have readily done in an effort to protect community members from predatory criminals.
After several months of this, Portland residents became exasperated and fed up with a DA who did not appear interested in creating and maintaining social order, but a DA who seemed more interested in becoming known as a compassionate social worker who gave violent predators 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th chances by releasing predators repeatedly so they could go out and victimize Portland citizens yet again.
Even the Oregon State Police felt in jeopardy due to Schmidt’s lack of common sense and his refusal in allowing police to do their jobs during the extremely violent 2020 riots. OSP, after they were called in to assist PPB felt they were being put in harms way by Schmidt’s steadfast refusal to prosecute dangerous repeat offenders — those individuals using the mantle of racism as their justification for violence, bloodshed, Doxxing and ultimately for cheap thrills. As a result OSP retreated and withdrew their support to PPB and the city of Portland. And who can blame them?
Schmidt continued to allow violent Antifa Militants to roam free, which merely continued the destructive loop of violent nightly riots, where militants and Anarchist rioters looted, robbed people, and assaulted people. This (included a transgender woman) who was assaulted and robbed on camera for apparently being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Because of Schmidt's continued protection of these criminals, they basically became increasingly emboldened by his unspoken, yet tacit approval of their criminal conduct. This dynamic has been evidenced by how Schmidt repeatedly did not charge these predators for their felonious conduct. The Antifa rioters crimes also included assaulting officers and destroying millions of dollars worth of property in the downtown City Center and in NE Portland which has resulted in extreme financial hardship for small business owners.
It seemed as is Mike Schmidt approved of the violence and the chaos.
But eventually, Schmidt may have seen the way he was coming across as weak and not on the side of justice or common sense. In time Schmidt tried to maneuver his way out of the common held appraisal of him — that he was protecting Antifa criminals, even after they were videotaped assaulting Portland residents and police officers. Many of the victims were women, teenagers, mothers, impartial journalists from Portland newspapers and Television stations simply trying to do their jobs and others who had come to watch the violent riots unfold.
Victims also included anyone who might go against the Antifa mob of criminals and request that they stop their mindless destruction of downtown Portland. Victims included elderly women who were assaulted by Antifa.
The crimes of Antifa Militants has resulted in thousands of destroyed windows all throughout Portland, and has caused millions of dollars in damage. This mindless destruction has resulted in over 170 Portland restaurants and other small businesses going out of business and in many of them filing for bankruptcy. Some of the businesses had histories of over 100 years with the city and were owned by people of color who have been in the Portland community for decades.
Antifa’s message was clear — that they believe “windows” were not important, but lives were. What these low intelligence Antifa Militants failed to comprehend was that windows are connected to “lives” and some of the windows they were destroying were owned by Black Portland business owners.
Where is the justice when Antifa Radicals destroy the lives of Black people? How are they helping people of color by fire bombing Black owned businesses in the name of Black Lives Matter?
These were small businesses owned by Black people — including the Boys and Girls Club, an organization that supports young Black children in North and NE Portland. The violent Antifa destroyers were the people that Mike Schmidt was releasing again and again, and not charging for the felonies they were committing, such as arson, robbery and violent assault.
They were primarily male and nearly 99 percent WHITE.
But clearly, these were also entitled white Millennial's who needed to project their rage on anyone in their path, othering any person unlucky enough to be in their midst by projecting a clear US vs. THEM mentality that does nothing to promote social equity, social justice or social harmony. This included even Black police officers, with Antifa Militants saying racist things like: “You have the biggest nose I’ve ever seen!”
The Portland DA Mike Schmidt was quoted several times by media as decrying the violence, but simultaneously appeared unable to comprehend his role in allowing the violence to continue by repeatedly allowing violent offenders to be released again and again to go out and recidivate. Schmidt was allowing criminals to prey on yet more victims, while committing arson fires, even of occupied buildings, violent assault and robbery. The Antifa Militants were more than aware that Schmidt was allowing this, which emboldened them further.
So, while Schmidt was quoted by media as “disapproving” of the violence, he was not proactively addressing the need for incarceration for violent offenders with adequate actions. These were offenders who might easily benefit from the structured environment of incarceration, where they could reflect on their crimes. While incarcerated, they could also reflect on the toxic masculinity they embrace, their self-destructive lifestyles, and consider new avenues of change and transformation with the help of jail and prison counselors and education programs available to most incarcerated offenders in both Oregon and Washington states.
Despite the Portland public growing increasingly fed up with DA Mike Schmidt who has been nicknamed the “catch and release guy” no one could have guessed that even more trouble was brewing in his office. Many had heard through the grapevine that his office was in a state of chaos since the first day he took over, and that he didn’t know how to lead. But even I was surprised and astounded by the bombshell that was revealed when Amber Kinney, a longtime veteran lawyer revealed that NINE experienced women attorneys had resigned after only one short year in the DA’s office.
NINE? In ONE year? Seriously? When and WHERE does that routinely occur? And has anyone ever HEARD of such a thing? NINE women in ONE year? That is unprecedented and must be recognized as such.
In a “blistering” letter of resignation, Amber Kinney unloaded what Mike Schmidt had been doing to her and her EIGHT women collogues, all replaced later by Schmidt with MEN.
“In the last year and a half, not only has the forward progress women made in our office ceased, but under your leadership women have been set back decades.”
Kinney went on to write: “Under your leadership, seven consecutive men were promoted or hired into leadership positions. Under your leadership (or in anticipation of your leadership) eight high-level career lawyers have left our office, seven of the eight are women.”
Amber Kinney delivered a well-written, sane and thoughtful letter of resignation, which later became public. The fact that she included the shocking information that EIGHT other women have resigned in only ONE year is truly mind boggling. I don’t know of any other place in our country where something like this has occurred and in a real and quantifiable way, this revelation is HISTORICAL!
Kinney went onto write: “For the first time in my career, and for the first time in decades, there is currently not a single female attorney leading a felony trial unit. This is an embarrassing reality in an office that prides itself on being progressive; in an office that serves and protects vulnerable victims of crime, many of whom are women who were subjected to physical and sexual violence by men, many of whom are, understandably, frightened and intimidated by men. Our community is better served by gender diversity in government agencies, especially prosecution. Our community and the vulnerable victims we serve deserve female prosecutors.”
Kinney furthermore shared information that Schmidt had hired into the DA’s office a man who was known as being inappropriate with women. She stated that she and the other women in the office were dumbfounded over Schmidt's bizarre decision to hire a man with such a reputation and not consult them first. Or perhaps Schmidt merely chose to ignore rumors he had already heard and knew about?
Why would a man, (Schmidt), who claims to be progressive and enlightened hire another man who was known to behave inappropriately with women and who in fact ended up resigning after less than eight weeks on the job, due to sexual harassment? Kinney had this to write:
“Meanwhile, you must know how your decision to hire Ernie Warren impacted women in the office. Many of us, had you asked, could have shared with you our discomfort with that decision based on our personal and previous experiences with him. You hired him to become the supervisor of the “Justice Integrity Unit” — the very unit tasked with bringing integrity back to the justice system. A unit tasked with remedying and correcting for the biases that have caused disproportionate impacts on criminal justice. Ironically, Mr. Warren lasted 42 days before he was forced to resign for sexually harassing a female colleague. Your poor decision making has left women in the office feeling vulnerable and our opinions inconsequential. We are all waiting to see who you decide to fill the vacancy left by Mr. Warren, and whether this will be filled by yet another man.”
Kinney elaborates even further when she stated: “ You and I started working together as baby lawyers in 2007 and 2008. I trained you on misdemeanor row and at misdemeanor intake. You know that while I have never held a leadership position in this office, I have always been a leader informally.”
The above quote is significant. Based on what it reveals, it would appear that Amber Kinney was in a supervisory position over Mike Schmidt at one time and had actually trained him. This revelation is important, because it shows that Schmidt, as a Newbie, may indeed have resented Kinney for the obvious experience she had that he lacked. This is not an uncommon dynamic at all.
Then later finding himself in the position of DA, Schmidt was suddenly in a position of power over her and could now do what he wanted. Schmidt would then have the power to ignore Kinney’s concerns, and the other women in the office, and alienate them to the point that they all resigned.
Again, all NINE of them! NINE women in ONE year left the DA’s office under Mike Schmidt's management. Some may wonder, where would that happen other than good old Keepin’ it weird Portland? But is this the kind of thing we’re even known for? Isn’t this something that would make more sense as happening in places like the Deep South, rather than liberal, progressive Portland, Oregon? That is an important question that needs to be addressed and answered. WHY was this even allowed to occur?
How can Mike Schmidt justify his blatant sexism and the destruction of NINE stellar women’s careers in the DA’s office? How can he not see the enormous weakness that this pattern of poor leadership represents? Is this what happens under his management? If so, then he is failing completely in his role as DA. So, how did Schmidt respond? What did he say about this situation?
Schmidt did make a statement and funnily enough this is what he had to say: “I am sorry to see her go under these circumstances.” His statement appears perfunctory and hollow. Apparently, he was more than okay with the OTHER EIGHT women who also resigned, but did not go public?
There is something seriously wrong with the internal psychology of Mike Schmidt. He is one of those unfortunate people who cannot see the forest for the trees and his naivety and ignorance with regard to office politics and fair and equitable management within a professional setting is indeed truly shocking.
NINE employees, all women, resign in one year and Mike Schmidt appears to be perfectly okay with that? Therein lies the problem. No person with any moral awareness or developed empathy should or would ever be okay with that!
Mike Schmidt, in his written statement further added: “We are deeply committed to uplifting diversity at all levels. We apply these values to our everyday work from how we make decisions to how we treat the people that we work with and the communities that we serve.”
The aforementioned statement by Mike Schmidt is laughable.
How can Schmidt be “committed to uplifting diversity at all levels” if he is willing to allow NINE women to resign from his office after only ONE year as acting DA? Where is the logic in that? Where is the comprehension of any manner of political strategy? Is this what Schmidt believes to be good management style?
What is this reprehensible behavior indicative of, other than the complete contempt for women that is appears to be? And why does Schmidt have such contempt for women? Does it go back to his childhood? His relationship with his mother, perhaps? Did she abuse him as a child? Where does this woman hatred come from?
This level of ignorance is astounding in a man who enjoys the level of power and privilege that Mike Schmidt enjoys and benefits from. It is shocking and indeed laughable that anyone could live with blinders on in the way Schmidt has been living with blinders on, unable or unwilling to see the forest for the trees.
Had I been Mike Schmidt, in his position as DA, and lets say, FOUR women resigned, I would think to myself: “Hmmm, we have a problem here. Four women have resigned in less than one year. Maybe there is something wrong with ME or my management style? Maybe I should look into this pattern and perhaps do something differently to ensure the success of this department?”
Did Mike Schmidt ever do that? It would appear that he did not.
Had I been DA and a man, I would have done some serious soul searching. But Schmidt didn’t do that. He simply allowed the women to leave, one after the other and in their place, (this man who clearly identifies and relates more with men) hired only MEN to replace EVER SINGLE ONE of those women!
EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. OF. THEM. Replaced by MEN. Let that sink in for a moment. So when women or young girls are asked to testify in their Rape case, they will not be allowed to speak with a woman attorney, they will be assigned a MAN. I’m sorry but that is NOT right!
In a way, this is personal for me.
In 1979, when I was 13 during the summer break, I was sexually assaulted in North Portland as I was spending the night with a friend I was babysitting for. A neighbor asked to use the phone and as I was told to let anyone in the apartment complex use the phone, (back in the days when not everyone had a landline) and I was only 13 and naïve, I did as I was told.
The fourth person to use the phone was a man who appeared to be in his 30s who assaulted me for almost 3 hours. I won’t go into the tedious details but after my friend came home and we called the police, and she comforted her toddler daughter who had been locked up in one of the two bedrooms, and after I was processed at the hospital and a Rape Kit performed, I had to go to meetings and court hearings over the next several weeks.
During those meetings, I was met with ONLY men. One of them, a PPB detective was kind. He was young, handsome and had blond feathered hair and a blond mustache. He had just been promoted to detective and I represented his first sex crimes case. He was embarrassed when he told me: “This is the first time I’ve ever had a case … like this…” he said, looking down, meaning his first rape case. I felt sorry for him.
The Prosecutor, who I also remember, was a tall, elegantly dressed man with dark hair. He appeared completely disinterested and barely looked at me. I never once met with a woman attorney because there simply weren’t any then. I can say now, it sure would have been nice to have had a woman attorney to meet with me, to help me make sense of what happened.
As it was, the ONLY person who told me the sexual assault was NOT my fault was a PPB police officer who interviewed me at the apartment, and whose name long ago left my memory. I wish I could thank her, because she was the only person who told me that the rape was not my fault and her kind, sad statement that I was not to blame never left my mind. I thought of it for years and it helped me carry on and continue the exhausting fight of life.
My story is not unique though, but it does reinforce the reality that women and girls need WOMEN to represent them, and not just men, who can say and do the stupidest, most callous things.
I’ll never forget how the defense attorney sneered at me as I sat on the witness stand, my feet not long enough to touch the ground, suggesting that I was not a virgin, or the hateful way he asked me if I’d had “any other boyfriends” besides the man, a stranger, who had assaulted me. I’ll never forget how sarcastic his voice was and how he had to be admonished by the Judge to stop belittling me. I was 13! I stood five feet two inches and weighed 104 pounds and this defense attorney was making me out to be some kind of sleazy seductress. Finally, in a rage I yelled: “He wasn’t my boyfriend! He was OLD and he smelled like BEER!” Would I have been put through the hell of that day if I’d had a woman attorney on my side? Probably NOT.
This new development in the DA’s office is unprecedented and it is also HISTORICAL. Furthermore, the NATION is watching. The NATION is watching Mike Schmidt as he pushes out women in favor of MEN and puts back women’s rights decades, just as Amber Kinney has stated! The Southern Poverty Law Center and other organizations are WATCHING Mike Schmidt.
Word on the street and from the several people I have spoken with, including attorneys in Portland, is that the women attorneys who resigned from the DA’s office are planning a class action lawsuit, and as the feminist I am, I can only hope they DO. It is only what they deserve. Because clearly these women deserve JUSTICE. These women were forced out due to a hostile work environment by a man who says one thing, and then does another. They deserve JUSTICE!
The sad reality is that Mike Schmidt is a BRO. We all know who they are. We’ve all seen them in action, heard them, listened to their tedious pontifications, arrogance, naivety, narcissism and selfishness.
Mike Schmidt has shown ALL of Portland that he identifies more with men, he trusts them more, relies on them more, and clearly he prefers their company to women and as a result he is willing to sabotage the careers of women in favor of MEN. He is willing to watch passively as one after another woman attorney (who had been working in that office before he become DA) walked away from a high prestige job they were reputed to have loved because of his passive aggressive behavior towards them. Mike Schmidt made all those women feel unsupported and unsafe and he was more than content to simply watch them leave, one after the other.
If this is what Mike Schmidt was willing to do to the women in the DA’s office, (and he was!) then clearly he is NO friend to women in Portland or anywhere else!
Remember what we were all taught as children? Actions speak louder than words? The same life lesson applies to adults and it applies to Mike Schmidt in spades, because he has shown us all what his real values are:
MEN OVER WOMEN. Bro’s before Hoe’s.
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, Mike. Maybe you should remember that.
I hope that when Mike Schmidt runs for re-election in 2025 that Portlanders remember what he has done in his first year. I hope we have a better candidate and that Portland is able to VOTE HIS SEXIST personage OUT! Because Portland deserves better than a liar, a fraud, a wolf in sheep's clothing, or an unredeemable and unapologetic MISOGYNIST.
Portland deserves better than Mike Schmidt!
Perhaps Amber Kinney might consider running? She would stand more than a good chance and Kinney is exactly what the Portland DA’s office needs.
To Amber Kinney I extend my heartfelt support and compassion. I have been there, in my 56 years on this planet. I have survived similar things, when men sabotage women so they can protect and remain loyal to each other at the expense of women’s empowerment and sometimes even their survival.
I’ve been there Amber. I see you and I hear you.
Authors Note: In 2020 Antifa Militant Michael Forest Reinoehl was repeatedly not charged after being involved in violent riots in downtown Portland. This was a man who posted on his public Facebook page that he was “100 percent ANTIFA!” In one instance Reinoehl was arrested because he had a gun he was not legally licensed to carry — a felony. But DA Mike Schmidt chose not to charge Reinoehl for carrying a concealed weapon he was not legally supposed to possess. Mike Schmidt allowed this dangerous predator to go free instead, so he could become involved in more crimes.
It has been documented that Reinoehl become increasingly emboldened in his violent acting out. The main reason for this is because of the unspoken message from DA Mike Schmidt that it was okay to be violent, okay to destroy property and okay to hurt people if you identified as an Antifa Militant while you were doing it!
Later, Michael Forest Reinoehl became so emboldened that he murdered unarmed Aaron “Jay” Danielson in cold blood the night of August 29 2020 in downtown Portland simply because Danielson’s political views were different. Had Reinoehl been arrested, as he should have been, and incarcerated and given the time to think and reflect on his crimes, and perhaps choose a better path, he would not have been free to murder an innocent man on that hot August night, leaving a devastated family behind who have lost their son/brother/friend and partner forever.
The night Aaron “Jay” Danielson was murdered in cold blood by a three time loser Dead Beat Dad with virtually no employment history in his 48 years of life, a young female Antifa militant could be heard loudly boasting and bragging on a Loud Speaker that they, the Antifa Militant Radicals, had “taken out the trash” by killing Danielson. The large crowd cheered and hollered as she shared the news that a Trump Supporter had been MURDERED. They rejoiced that they and their Antifa comrades had committed MURDER.
These sadistic malcontents were the people that Mike Schmidt was protecting, making excuses for and letting off with nothing but slaps on their proverbial wrists. When what they needed all along was to be incarcerated so they could hopefully benefit from the positive things that incarceration can provide — time to think, the opportunity for reflection and of course educational opportunities. Instead these Antifa Militants were rejoicing in the cowardly act of shooting an unarmed man to death and only because his political views were different.
DA Mike Schmidt is directly tied to the death of Aaron “Jay” Danielson and he always will be!

- In the photos below, many of them dated, Schmidt further demonstrates his bad judgment by publicly sharing several photographs that depict him in a certain light — which frankly does not seem to be a “good look” for any mature county official. I would not be surprised if Schmidt was advised to take down these rather immature photos and refused, not understanding the point or why they are not particularly appropriate.
