Do you want to live a long life? Swim might be the answer!

Meet George Corones, a 99-year-old swimmer who smashed a new world record just a few years ago. George is a helluva inspiration. As he puts it:

“Swimming is the only activity that the human can indulge in that is gravity-free”

Performing any activity is without a doubt great way to stay in shape. But there is one that rules them all — you guessed it — Swimming!

You may add as many as 10 years to your life, says heart disease researcher Jeremiah Stamler, M.D., of Northwestern University in Chicago.

A study performed by Nancy Chase, Xuemei Sui, and Steven Blair called “Research Swimming and All-Cause Mortality Risk Compared With Running, Walking, and Sedentary Habits in Menhad an impressive conclusion. This study looked at around 40,000 men for over 30 years.

“Swimmers had the lowest death rate, which was about 50% lower than the other activity groups. Men who were swimmers had a 56%, 51%, and 47% lower overall risk of dying than men who were sedentary, walkers, or runners, respectively”

Here are 6 reasons why swimming is the king:

  • Swimming is a highly aerobic exercise keeping your heart and lungs pumping. Aerobic swimming strengthens your heart.
  • Swimming engages the entire body, a good all-around workout.
  • Swimming is low-impact and safer for your joints.
  • Swimming improves your flexibility. Staying flexible decreases risk of injury.
  • Swimming burns calories, keeping your body weight in check.
  • Swimming boosts your mental health. When in the water you completely disconnect from the world. It’s the best therapy there is, lol.

You can swim at any age and in any weather, just find a local pool.

It doesn’t require any special equipment or expensive tools.

I started swimming regularly when I was 36 as part of my triathlon training and I hope to continue swimming when I am 90.

Btw, you don’t have to be a big endurance swimmer to reap the benefits.

Just start slowly, start at your own pace. The most important thing is to start.

Added a bit of cold water and you just supercharged your longevity.

Here is my brief gig on how to take short-cold showers.

The energizing feeling of cold short showers is irreplaceable!

Not long ago I watched a brief documentary about life lessons from 100-year-olds. These centenarians know the secret.

I hope this was convincing, so what are you waiting for?

Supercharge your life with a swim and live a long and happy life!
