Unstitution’s Activation Hub and activation support is a flexible, portable lab or testing ground where some things (not all) move from the Bridges, Belonging, Imagination Lab or Active Learning parts of our Living Operating System to an preliminary incubation and experimentation stage.
To navigate forward and make progress with some promising ideas, the Activation Hub puts the ideas, concepts, models, methodologies, and/or coalition frames–to the test.
The points of initiation vary. We bring in additional people to help. Just as often, we are invited to help others with their activation efforts. This may include diagnostic data collection before spawning a coalition or pilot project or introducing something into an existing coalition or initiative.
This takes place, when needed, before undertaking focused coalition readiness work…before actually convening a coalition and/or advancing to scale wide and deep, the learnings from coalition work and research learnings.
Undertaking deeper Activation Hub work can inform and guide us in determining the:
🔳 Learning goals and capabilities required
🔳 Key stakeholders (or careholders as we sometimes describe them) and unusual suspects who should be included
🔳 Local geographical/bioregional places for coalition work to begin or advance
🔳 Promotional and outreach strategies that will build awareness, stir interest and mobilize energy in the subject area
🔳 Funding strategies and sources that will enable coalition work to get underway and advance
🔳 Ways to right scale or build groundswell from coalition work and the patterns observed
Activation is that critical orchestration when the music is written, the ensemble is assembled, the rehearsals are beginning and the coalition or initiative is being defined. Activation, done well, brings forward tangible pilots and projects that are ready to be operationalized.
