Unstitution is always a co-creative work-in-progress.

Everything that we imagine, invent and shape is based on a guiding moral foundation and compass toward real systemic change.

Our Imagination Lab is where we ideate, and draw transcontextual and transdisciplinary inspiration with a special appreciation for the igniting spark and spirit of arts and culture.

Sometimes we go into ideation mode on a very focused quest.

Sometimes it’s very open ended…

And yeah…this is where we often let loose and get a little more crazy than usual :-)

Engage in playful banter…even wear funny hats……more on that another time…it’s on our storytelling to do list.

Sometimes we peel back another layer of messy humanness…

We dare to dream.

We feel things deeply and viscerally. Experiencing and exploring from some new angles, we tap into compassion and empathy in some different ways.

We let things out that we didn’t know we had in us…

We uncover…recover…co-discover…

We ask “What if_____?” often…curious to see where our ideas take us.

We invite and welcome those who bring different perspectives, talents and lived experience into the Imagination Lab.

We are especially delighted when folks invite themselves into our co-creative space, looking to concoct something new that might open up pathways to learning, creative alternatives and much-needed breakthroughs — more ‘aha’ moments.

While purposeful, we never know what the outcomes will be. We trust that our creative sparks will likely take us somewhere we’ve never been before and will lead us in some new interesting directions.

We often surprise ourselves here. We have fun. We laugh at our zany ideas. We throw lots of them in the trash. Sometimes we archive them or repurpose them for another initiative.

Usually we find treasure.

While there’s plenty of whimsy…we are searching for promising ideas that will take on the toughest monsters and help to address big hairy issues…There’s some very serious play going on here…When inspiration takes flight, it often breathes new energy and life in unexpected ways.

The best ideas get used…in a number of ways. Maybe we move on to our Activation Hub where we dig down to explore the nuts-and-bolts of how to implement. Maybe a new initiative or coalition is conceived. Maybe we write up more stories or articles. Sometimes we shape a new piece of action research to extend and amplify our collective learning.

Unstitution was birthed as a collective creative commons and nested ecosystem. We (co-)catalyze collaborative communities, initiatives and coalitions where people from across sectors, disciplines, cultures, generations and walks-of-life work together on mission critical issues.
