In this article, we’ll be teaching you how to create and optimise your listing on our website.

Let’s get into your business dashboard to create a listing:

How to get into your business dashboard from the homepage

Once you’ve determined the kind of experience you want to offer, it’s time to get started on your listing. You’ll come across the following interface that requires some fields to be filled up before the listing can be activated.

Title

This is the first thing that your potential customers will see, so you have to catch their attention immediately. Come up with something concise and catchy that captures the spirit on what your experience is about.

Some examples: Half Day Tour at Sentosa, XYZ Bakery’s Signature Cookies

Short titles that get to the point are most likely to attract buyers who know what they want to get for themselves. Additionally, if you have a strong personal brand, sticking your company name in a title is bound to attract your own loyal fans and keep you relevant in search engines.

Try to avoid lengthy titles that either stands alone as a sentence, or tries to cram too many details into the headline such as “An Experiential Hands On Lesson on Detox Diets: Making Your First Detoxifying Meal”.

You can always expound on the details in the next text box, which leads us to…

Description

This is where you can pack in more details to inform your potential customers. Put in more details about your listing and anticipate what your participants will want to know.

You can talk about:

  • What makes your class special?
Is it a secret recipe that your family has not shared, or are you priced competitively because it is a home studio?
  • What can participants expect to learn?
Is this something for absolute beginners, or should participants know the basic techniques before going?
  • What can participants bring home from this?
Will they be given a printout of the recipe or a carrier to take their creations home? Will it be an unforgettable experience for them to brag about to their friends?
  • What items are provided?
Would you be preparing everything or do the customers have to bring something with them?

You can even add in links to your social media accounts so that potential customers can get to know you better and follow your updates there.

If you have had a substantial amount of customers asking the same questions with regards to your refund policies or meeting details, you could either review your description box or add an FAQ section.

For those with a flair for HTML, you can also use this description box to bold, highlight, and make lists!

Category and Subcategory

Select all the categories that are relevant to your listing. This will make it easier for customers to find it.

You are able to select up to 3 subcategories for your listing, but understandably, some experiences are niche, like metalworking or woodcarving, so having one subcategory works just fine.

Duration

Here, you get to choose whether your class will be held within a day, or over multiple days. You also get to choose how long your class would roughly take.

If you are listing for multiple days, it is advised to indicate your start and end times on the description field.

Ticketing Options

In a previous protip article, we mentioned that you can configure different ticket options for your class. Here’s the rundown on each of them means:

# of guests: How many participant(s) the ticket admits

Price: Cost of the ticket

Availabilities: How many tickets will be available for sale

Absolute Maximum: Our system caps the attendance for the listing once the maximum attendance is reached.

Minimum Number of Guests: To let your guests know of the minumum number of guests required, you can indicate that number here. By not imposing an automatic cancel and refund system, we allow you the flexibility of deciding whether to cancel the class or to transfer your guests to an alternative slot if your minimum is not reached. More on how to contact your guests in a later article!

Firstly, you’d want to make a default option that admits 1 person. After that, you might want to add special ticket options for couples / families — as shown below.

By adjusting the availabilities for each option in the example below, you can accommodate a maximum of 10 individuals, 5 couples, or a mix of both! (2 couples and 6 individuals)

Additional Settings

Instant book

This feature allows automated instant acceptance to all bookings. By selecting Yes, you are allowing the system to process your bookings automatically without you having to do so manually.

Marketplace Visibility

If you select Yes for this option, your listing will appear on the Verlocal website. This helps in increasing the exposure of your listing and potential customers are more likely to come across it.

Open Reservation

Here, participants would be able to book you for classes on dates that suit their schedule. If you would like that, select Yes.

Questionnaires

Come up with questions for you to ask your customers so that you can make preparations beforehand should they have any special requests. These questions are compulsory, which ensures that the customers will answer them before making the purchase. Should you set up an optional question, you can always indicate that the customer can put in N.A. in the answer box.

Here are examples of questions that you can ask them, for certain categories:

Food & Drink

  • Do you have any dietary restrictions or allergies? If so, what are they? (Please indicate N.A. if none)

Arts & Craft, Language Classes

  • What level of expertise are you at?
  • Do you have any special learning disabilities which we need to accomodate? (Please indicate N.A. if none)

Outdoors, Fitness

  • Do you have any existing health conditions?

Customised URL

Create your own short and simple URL that indicates your Location, where you will be conducting your classes, Category of your listing and Keyword relating to your listing.

This is just a recommended guideline. If your link exceeds the character limit of 30, you can always make it shorter.

For example, you are conducting a class on making jewellery holders at 81B Rowell Road, your URL would be:

sg.verlocal.com/event/rowellroad-arts-jewelleryholder

If your URL is too long, you can shorten the address, as well as remove the category.

sg.verlocal.com/event/rowell-jewelleryholder

Video URL

If you have videos to showcase your work, feel free to add in the URL in this section. This feature is optional!

Tags

Tags make it easier for customers to find your listing among all the others in the marketplace. Use accurate and descriptive keywords that are specific to your listing. Do keep them short and simple!

Here is an example of tags you can use if you are conducting a baking class on eggless Matcha muffins.

  • Muffins, Matcha, Green Tea, Eggless, Dairy Free, Baking, Vegan, Gluten Free

Note

Create a message to deliver to your customers in the confirmation emails once they have booked your listing. The message can be as simple as a Thank You message. If you have special instructions for customers such as dress code or directions to the venue, feel free to add them under this section as well! This is how it will look like in the email:

Once you’ve activated your listing, click on the Save & Exit button, where you will be directed to your main listing page.

How to Schedule your Listing after Activation

To schedule your listing such that customers can book your classes, go under the Calendar section to choose a date and time for your class.

Your listing is now ready to be shared, and it is searchable on Verlocal’s marketplace.

This listing feature is available for both Free and Pro hosts, but Pro hosts will be given access to more useful features like a booking system that can be embedded on their website and social media pages, along with other customer management tools that will help them contact their clients directly. Why not speak to a Verlocal representative and give this system a go? We have a no obligation, 60-day trial for Verlocal Pro, or contact alexislow@verlocal.com.
