Simple tools for Network of Momentum participants

Disclaimer: this document assumes the reader has a basic understanding of Zenon Network and Network of Momentum. If not, a good place to start is by reading through Zenon Network’s Medium posts.

Intro

How much is the APY? What Pillar should I delegate to? Should I run a Sentinel or stake my stack? All valid questions from the perspective of a participant in Network of Momentum.

Network of Momentum has multiple incentivized ways to participate in the network: staking, delegating, running a Sentinel node, and running a Pillar node. All of these ways have different requirements, have a different purpose in the network, and provide different benefits for the participant.

At first glance, looking at the ZNN x QSR Alphanet specifications that represent the reward and participation coinmetrics in the upcoming Alphanet, one might find themselves wondering how exactly should they participate in the network. Everyone’s situation is different and the coinmetrics and reward dynamics aren’t that straightforward.

To help alleviate this uncertainty zenon.tools will provide a toolkit of easy to use tools that will allow existing network participants and newcomers alike to make optimal decisions on how to participate in Network of Momentum based on their situation.

zenon.tools is a community project and a participant in the Warp Drive hackathon launched by Zenon Network. This document will likely go through several changes in the near future as the project is just getting started and the ideas presented here will be further refined.

A look at the toolkit

1. Real-time reward rates

Real-time reward rates and market information.

An overview of real-time reward rates based on the current network conditions along with real-time market data will be provided and presented in an easy to understand way.

2. Reward calculator

The reward calculator with a control panel to simulate different network and market conditions.

The reward calculator will help estimate the potential rewards in different situations and will be accompanied by a control panel that allows for the adjustment of network and market parameters. This will help simulate different scenarios and the effects they would have on the expected rewards.

3. Showcasing the Pillars

A listing of active Pillars and their key metrics.

As Pillars are the backbone of Network of Momentum and validate network consensus it is important that information related to Pillars and their performance is made easily available.

The showcase will present all the active Pillars and show their performance information as well as reward share ratios and real-time reward rates for their delegators. This will help delegators choose the Pillar that is most suitable for them and help Pillar owners compare their Pillar’s key metrics to others.

4. Your Zenon portfolio

The portfolio tool concept.

The portfolio tool will help keep track of a given Zenon address showing the stakes, delegations, Sentinels and Pillars registered to that address. Other information like token balances, pending rewards, reward rates, and incoming/outgoing transactions will also be displayed.

The portfolio tool will not need your private keys as it will gather the data from publicly available information related to your public address. This will allow for easy and secure monitoring of your Zenon portfolio from wherever you are and on any platform.

The portfolio tool will be provided as a separate web application that can be downloaded onto a mobile device and be used like a regular application.

Project status and roadmap

zenon.tools is currently under development with a demo version live and connected to the Public Incentivized Testnet. Once Alphanet is launched zenon.tools will be migrated there.

The goal of the project is to implement the tools that are presented in this document in three phases. These tools are meant to provide value to the Zenon community and to help in the onboarding of newcomers to the network.

The front-end web application of zenon.tools is being built with Flutter Web. Flutter Web allows to simultaneously build the desktop and mobile experiences and ensures that zenon.tools is easily accessible to everyone via a web browser.

Phase 1

The project is currently in Phase 1. During this phase the goal is to create an MVP including the real-time reward rates, the calculator and the Pillars showcase.

Phase 2

In Phase 2 the first goal is to improve the features developed in Phase 1. This will include improvements to the mobile experience, making the codebase more robust, and possibly indexing certain data from Network of Momentum to provide more accurate reward rate estimations for the network. Indexing data will include the need for developing a custom API and other backend related work.

The second goal is to further investigate the feasibility of the Zenon portfolio feature and to create a prototype of this feature.

Phase 3

In Phase 3 the focus will be on developing the Zenon portfolio feature if it is deemed as feasible to implement during Phase 2. This will include the need for further polishing the concept and refining the features based on what the community sees as important.

Wrap up

This document is meant to provide an overview of zenon.tools and the project’s goals for the near future and to act as a presentation for the Warp Drive hackathon.

Hopefully this document will also spark interest in Zenon community members to propose their ideas related to the tools presented here and to come up with ideas for tools they would find useful when participating in Network of Momentum.
