When you receive that first interview call, remember, it’s the recruiter’s initiation into the selection process, and it’s no less than a mini-interview itself. Effective preparation is key. Here’s your pre-call checklist:

  1. Elevator Pitch: Summarize yourself concisely in a 2 min elevator pitch.
  2. The Company: Research thoroughly to grasp company’s essence.
  3. Tailor Your Interest: Explain why the role resonates with you.
  4. Interview Process: Seek clarity on the interview steps moving forward.
  5. Prepare Your Questions: Have insightful queries for the recruiter:
  • Tell me more about the role’s specifics.
  • Describe the company culture.
  • Is the role remote, hybrid, or in-person?
  • Clarify any visa-related inquiries.
  • How’s the current collaboration process?
  • What technology stack is in use?

Tip: ChatGPT helps in giving you a brief note about what the company does if you type the name or URL of the company’s website. Also, express your enthusiasm to your recruiter for expediting the process if feasible. Often, this can result in an accelerated interview schedule.
