(Parts one, two, and three)

So… sleeping was a no-go until sheer exhaustion must have at some point won over. My left ribcage, right under my girly parts HURTS. At least if I tried laying down on my side or back or, oh, I don’t know… breathed…

But enough about trivial matters. Here’s our big news of the day: (Shout out to Linda!) Meet Meeko:

Meeko, the newest member of our clan

He’s purrfect in every way. My phone had about 100 notifications on it when I checked it after my shift ended. All pictures of Meeko doing various things that my daughters thought I just had to see.

Work was fine. What’s interesting is my ability to compartmentalize personal feelings while on the job actually blocked out the rib pain as well. I mean, oh sure, when I was using the manual hoyer lift I about passed out momentarily, but really had a pain-free 12 hours.

I was hoping that meant it was better, but I am dying here tonight (or is it early morning?). Well, not literally. Let’s just say I volunteered to work a 16 tomorrow. I need another distraction until this bugger of a whatever the heck I did to myself injury dissipates.

Not that there’s much room on my bed right now anyway…

My youngest and Meeko have claimed my mattress.

And so I guess we are officially living here now. Still have some stuff left to haul here throughout the week, and two boys to move here once the weather gets a little safer to drive in. But still! Progress is progress, right?

Ya know a place is lived in when the fridge looks like this! (Courtesy of my daughters) And yes, that is the rib-cracking culprit.

Cheers! I’ll try to catch up on all the wonderful stories and poems and such on Medium. Keep writing!
