Step 13 in the Beginner’s Guide To Meditation series.

(Step 12 / Step 14)

Your heart. This is when the training wheels start to come off.

You’ve learned a lot of different tools over the course of the last twelve steps of meditation. In this one, you’re going to start to explore things on your own — focusing on everything you learned about breathing, about how to be in your body, how to focus, how to bring in sounds and inner sensory experiences, how to propel yourself with the free energy of gratitude, and how to move through the directions.

What is in front of you?

What is behind you?

What do you receive?

What do you give?

What do you rest upon?

What shines upon you?

Your heart is that point in the center of all those directions.

Find your way to that center using all the skills that you’ve gained in meditation. There, you’ll find yourself.

At the very core of these directions, everybody has a tiny space in their heart. It’s within that space that we connect with each other.

Through contending with each of these different directions, you triangulate that space within yourself. You locate your heart.

That’s about all I can tell you about what that means. The rest you have to experience on your own.

Find your way back to yourself and use that gratitude to fill it with self-love.

That’s what this meditation is for.

Good luck.
