EVKit Smartphone Edition (a.k.a. EVKit Smartphone Extension) / EVKit SE (for iOS & Android)
Today, smartphones are critical and essential to people’s lifestyle, more important than our wallet. In fact, smartphones have become the de facto Identity Trust Device for all transactions in our life.
MIH is an open platform for EV developers & OEMs, to lower the entry barrier and to reduce the development cycle, it is logical to introduce EVKit Smartphone Edition (EVKit SE) to bridge framework building blocks between MIH EVs and Smartphones (the owner identity of EVs).
Smartphone will be one of the identity trust devices for future MIH Open EV platform (eg. Apple has put car keys in iPhone wallet).
EVKit SE will have SDK and APIs to interface between MIH EVs and smartphone platform (iOS & Android).
These APIs and SDK on smartphone platform (iOS & Android) will include most of the needed Mission-Critical APIs and all Non-mission-critical APIs to cover the whole MIH EVs (access to the whole EV system APIs & resources from the smarphone platforms, instead of limited to IVI and cockpit like CarPlay and Android Auto today).
The concept is to help all MIH EV application developers to have SDK to link between MIH EVs and smartphone devices & vice versa. Also helps smartphone developers to enter MIH EVs.
EVKit SE will leverage and expand the established smartphone community & ecosystem to quickly enable all features in identity, payments and cross platform user experience capabilities.
On MIH platform, there are one vehicle ID (NFT for car, Decentralized Universal ID*, the future digital form of car VIN) for every EV and the owner user ID (Decentralized Universal ID). For EVKit SE, it will open secured access to the whole EV resources, features and control protocol to smartphone developers and vice versa (from within MIH EVs to smartphones, too)
MIH will not just open to smartphone developers community, EVKit SE will also help smartphone developers to enter the automotive industry. MIH EVs will include smartphone user experiences (inside and outside of EV) and see smartphones as the critical part of the whole ecosystem (open integration for EVs & Smartphones).
From smartphone, it can extend the scope to include all related context matters locations such as smart home & office where smartphones are also the command center and the Identity Trust Devices.
*Decentralized Universal ID will be backed by blockchain technology to increase the TRUST level across all actors in the ecosystem (users and organizations).
