#365DaysOfWriting – Day 183
I’m halfway through with the daily writing challenge
183/365. Mark this day, ladies and gentlemen. I’ve completed 6 months of continuous daily writing without a break.
Unbelievable.
I never thought I’d get this far. And yet, I have. I now cannot sleep on a day I haven’t written anything. As a writer, I should’ve inculcated this habit a long time ago… but as the cliché goes, better late than never. I’ve tried numerous things – a blog for horror/thriller stories (in the vein of Edgar Allan Poe), a blog for short, 55-word stories, and even a blog for writing movie reviews. I ran out of steam for all those blogs. The reason probably was I kept long-term goals for those blogs and never focussed on the short term. It became a battle between my laziness and ‘getting an idea’ to write. Now, it’s second nature.
There has been encouragement from many quarters.
None more so than the rocks of my life, my parents. It was my father who reminded me that I completed 6 months of non-stop daily writing today.
Sometimes, all you need is a reminder from a loved one about your strength within. My parents have always reminded me of those strengths.
The interesting part is, on Day Ninety-Two, I received similar encouragement from Joyda! Why interesting, you ask? 92 is ~50% of 183! And today I complete ~50% of my writing challenge. Funny, symmetrical coincidences…
