Since early childhood, we are hearing from our family members that it’s important to have a good educational degree. It is the key to a successful life. It helps to find a well-paying job.

Also there is a saying that, A man without a college degree is like a person without hands.

First, let’s see what’s the Skill and Degree and its importance:

Degree:-

  1. A degree is an authentic certificate that the person applying for the post is having the knowledge of the work requirement and can manage the functioning and justify the position.
  2. A degree earns respect and a social reputation. A person is assessed through his qualifications, which are reflected by his degree.

Skills:-

  1. Every degree holder is not necessarily skilled. It is the skill that helps to achieve the target and not the degree.
  2. Skill is an abstract term that cannot be evaluated on bits of paper. It is a broad spectrum that is groomed within the individual and nurtured through the repeated practical implications in life.
  3. It is not the degree, but the skill that achieves success. A degree can earn the job, but it cannot help grow further without the skill.
  4. The great people from history were all skilled people, but they didn’t have the certifications for their knowledge.

Why do our parents and families say that degree is important?

College is not simply about education

In an interview with CNN, Bill Gates stated that he looks back on his decision of not graduating from college and believes that are many important experiences that he had missed as a result. This is because college is not simply about getting a degree in a specific field alone. College allows students to interact with each other and different classes outside one’s own field in order to broaden the student’s engagement with the world and with different ideas.

Is a college degree worth it for you?

To answer this question, You have to ask a few questions to yourself -

If it is worth it for you to spend four to five years of time and money to get exposure, then it is fine.

But if you fall into debt and go through excessive stress only to get nothing but a piece of paper. Then It’s totally a waste of time, money, and effort because having a college degree is no longer a guarantee of finding a job or having a higher salary. Thus, who consider going to college for getting a degree. It might actually be a waste of time and money.

Remember, Where there is a will, there’s a way. So, think differently, be smart and ambitious and you will achieve your goal.
