Introduction
Every tarot card has its own uniquely defined meaning — but we can easily get too wrapped up in those definitions.
Sometimes, it’s better to not focus on the official meanings and, instead, to see how each card speaks to you in the moment.
Doing so lets you better tap into your subconscious mind: your hidden fears, your intuitions, your innermost desires…
In this article, you’ll get a step-by-step guide to reading your own mind through tarot (+ why that is a form of shadow work).
Step-by-Step Guide — Tarot to Read Your Own Mind
- Shuffle your deck as usual, imbuing it with spiritual energy, then place it face down on your table.
- Now pick up the card at the top of your pile. Inspect it for a maximum of 5 seconds, noticing the thoughts and sensations it evokes in you.
- If the card makes you feel something — good or bad — place it on a pile to save for later. E.g. a card might seem ‘calming’, ‘joyous’, or ‘scary’. If the card doesn’t bring up any thoughts or emotions, discard it.
