Introduction

In an era of evolving digital economies, the Network of Momentum, better known as Zenon, marks a shift towards a more equitable system where contributions through collaboration are rewarded, moving away from traditional models that favor large corporations. It is a decentralized platform that empowers individuals to grow, develop, and manage their own digital ecosystem, encouraging developers, creators, and investors to engage and monetize their assets or computing power.

Zenon focuses on creating a trustless, community-governed network that prioritizes feeless transactions, decentralized technologies, and easy token creation with the Zenon Token Standard (ZTS), all accessible through the Syrius wallet.

This guide will help kickstart your journey to a decentralized future, from bridging wrapped ZNN (wZNN) to earning yield on the Network of Momentum. If you are not familiar with Zenon yet, I would suggest looking at the clip below to get an idea of what the network represents and why it is so important.

3) Feeless transactions: Introducing Plasma

On the image above, you see a pink circle next to the arrow. This means your address is low on Plasma. Every transaction on NoM is feeless, but without Plasma, s y r i u s will perform PoW in order to process the transaction. Learn more about Plasma — the feeless paradigm HERE.

https://medium.com/@zenon.network/plasma-the-new-fee-paradigm-for-the-next-gen-decentralized-network-4ec3f27e4a6b

If you want to increase your transaction throughput, you can fuse Quasar (QSR) in order to generate Plasma. This will lock your QSR in an embedded smart-contract, and you will be able to withdraw it after 10 hours. You will not lose your QSR in this process.

Plasma throughput table:

- Low Plasma: 0 QSR fused

- Medium Plasma: 50 QSR fused

- High Plasma: ≥ 120 QSR fused

You can buy $wQSR from Uniswap and bridge it to NoM following the same steps in the guide or you can trade it with other community members using HTLC Atomic Swaps.

$wQSR contract address: 0xe6c61425d0383c1cde02a49365945f48ebf0ea0c

Additionally, you can temporarily fuse Plasma for your address for free using the bot provided by https://zenonhub.io/.

4) How to earn yield on your ZNN

There are several ways to earn yield on the Network of Momentum. The two main methods are through “delegation” and “staking”. These will be explained more in depth in chapter 4.2 — Network participants. The key difference between delegating and staking can be explained as following:

Pillar Delegation (flexible ZNN rewards):
Delegation is the process of voting a pillar to use your ZNN in order to produce momentums. This increases the weight and the rank of a Pillar. In return, Pillars distribute a part of its rewards to the delegators to attract more votes and increase its ranking. They can be viewed as decentralized communities within NoM, where each pillar represents a set of core values and/or provide services to their delegators.

Note: this action neither locks nor transfers the balance of the delegating account. Which means you can freely move around your ZNN.

APY up to 20%* (use https://zenon.tools/pillars to find current delegation APRs and pillar uptime)

Delegation requires at least 1 ZNN.

Head over to the “Pillars” tab in s y r i u s and scroll down to the Pillar list.

  • Press “delegate” to the Pillar of your liking.
s y r i u s — Pillars tab (delegation)

Staking (locked QSR rewards)
Staking ZNN will give you QSR rewards. Your ZNN will to be locked in a smart contract for a predefined amount of time (multiples of 30 days). After the locking period has ended, the staked amount can be refunded without any costs.

Staking: APY up to 24%* (use https://zenon.tools/calculator to find current APR)

Staking requires at least 1 ZNN.

Head over to the “Staking” tab

  • Choose the desired duration and amount and press “Stake”
s y r i u s — Staking tab (staking)

4.1) NoM’s dual coin economy

The Network of Momentum is based on a dual-coin mechanism, featuring ZNN and QSR as the two coins powering the network. Each has its own purpose, creating an underlying synergy within the Network of Momentum’s architecture. Zenon (ZNN) serves as the main currency, while Quasar (QSR) functions as the secondary currency.

ZNN is utilized as collateral for the network consensus infrastructure, ensuring transactions are validated and recorded on-chain. It can be earned through delegating, spawning a pillar/sentinel or by providing liquidity.

Meanwhile, QSR, the secondary token can be earned through staking, spawning a sentinel or by providing liquidity. It acts as a utility token with several key functions essential to the network’s operation and security. Its uses include:

  • Processing Transactions: QSR is “fused” to process transaction within the Zenon Network. For example, a user fuses $QSR to produce “plasma”. Plasma is then used to fuel transactions. After a period of time plasma can be returned to QSR for future use.
  • Launching Sentinels: Sentinels in the Zenon Network are public nodes designed to enhance the network’s security. $QSR is bonded to deploy a sentinel which plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and safety of the network against potential threats or vulnerabilities. Sentinels perform PoW and add chain weight and protect the network against sybil attacks.
  • Launching Pillars: Pillars are crucial elements in the Zenon Network that validate transactions and produce blocks, key activities in blockchain networks. QSR tokens are burned to launch pillars. In this sense, QSR is a deflationary asset.

4.2) Network participants

NoM is an autonomous network that fosters synergy and collaboration among all participants, united by the common vision of expanding the network across the universe. This framework ensures that every participant can earn yield and contribute to the network in their own way.

The daily network emissions are distributed among all the groups of participants within the network, amounting to 4,320 ZNN and 5,000 QSR. More information can be found HERE.

Level 1: Delegating (ZNN rewards)
Delegators use their ZNN as voting power to Pillars in return for a variable share of the delegation and momentum rewards Pillars are generating. The delegated ZNN function as a voting weight to each Pillar which determines the outcome of protocol votes. Think of pillars as the entities through which delegators can cast governance votes by allocating their ZNN to the respective pillars that represent what delegators want to vote for.

Delegation: APY up to 20%* (use https://zenon.tools/pillars to find current delegation APRs and pillar uptime)

Delegating requires a minimum of 1 ZNN.

Rewards allocations:
24% of the ZNN amount minted daily will be distributed as voting rewards to Pillars

Level 2: Staking (QSR rewards)
Stakers lock up their ZNN for variable amounts of time to generate QSR. The longer the lockup duration and the bigger the staked amount of ZNN, the higher the QSR yield. Up to a multiplier of 2.1x can be achieved when staking ZNN.

Staking: APY up to 24%* (use https://zenon.tools/calculator to find current APR)

Staking requires at least 1 ZNN.

Rewards allocations:
50% of the QSR amount minted daily will be distributed to Stakers.

Level 3: Liquidity providers (ZNN + QSR rewards)
internal or external participants rewarded for providing cross-chain liquidity through the Orbital Program. More info on how to provide liquidity can be found HERE.

The Protocol Level Liquidity Program implies that a fraction of all network rewards will be collected and further on can be redistributed by an embedded smart contract in a trustless and censorship-resistant way.

Orbital Rewards: These are protocol emissions to support network liquidity that do not change. They are set at 561.6 ZNN and 1,250 QSR per day.

Liquidity Multiplier: LPs can choose to stake their LP tokens for between 1 and 12 months in order to receive a Liquidity Multiplier of 1X to 12X.

Locking period:
1 month = 1X rewards
3 months = 3x rewards
6 months = 6x rewards
12 months = 12x rewards

Level 4: Sentinel (ZNN + QSR rewards)
Sentinels are full nodes that maintain the state of the dual-ledger by enforcing network validation rules. Note that sentinels are only implemented as yield generating placeholders for now, live deployment of Sentinels is expected to start with the launch of NoM Phase 1.

Sentinel: APY up to 15%* (use https://zenon.tools/calculator to find current APR)

Spawning a Sentinel requires locking 5,000 ZNN and 50,000 QSR for the Sentinel slot.

Rewards allocations:
25% of the QSR amount minted daily will be distributed to Sentinels
13% of the ZNN amount minted daily will be distributed to Sentinels.

Level 5: Pillars (ZNN rewards)
The most valuable asset in NoM as they actively participate in the consensus protocol by producing and validating momentums. They can be seen as governors that have greatly contributed to the network and are the best to represent its delegators’ interests.

Pillars represent the backbone of the network, having a governance role by voting community initiatives, Vested Pillars or the projects raising funds through Accelerator-Z.

Pillar: APY up to 40%* (use https://zenon.tools/calculator to find current APR)

Requirements to spawn a Pillar: 15,000 ZNN and a minimum of 150,000 QSR. Deploying a Pillar slot requires burning the QSR amount. Note: for every new Pillar, the QSR requirement increases with 10,000 QSR (currently 290,000)

Rewards allocations: 50% of the ZNN amount minted daily will be distributed to Pillars

4.3) Zenon.tools — APY calculator

Zenon.tools offers a feature that tracks Annual Percentage Yields (APYs) for Pillars, Sentinels, Delegators, Stakers, and Liquidity Providers (LPs). This tool provides everything you need to make informed decisions on how to optimize yield earning opportunities within the Network of Momentum.
