A Story About Being Sober
You walk over to me; I’m cleaning
red wine out of the tarp covering the carpet.
I’m talking about the tarp’s existence,
how smart she was to put it down, how stained it is.
You walk away. I find
a nest full of tiny pumpkin eggs hatching
things I think are chickens, but know are not.
