About Me — Bill Willisford
A simple man with a full life
I’ve been a learner all my life. Open to new ways of thinking, adapting to new technologies, and teaching myself new skills. I’ve sought to meet new people, develop new ideas, and talk about new things.
Now that I am seventy-five, my focus is on seeking to understand.
Before, I wanted to know what to do. What are the right goals for me? The right strategy to achieve those goals. Now, I look to understand why I chose the goals that I did, and what was it that drew me to that particular strategy.
The service that I offer to this world is not a service of labor, it is a service of wisdom and insight. My car offers a good analogy. When I was younger, I changed my oil and adjusted the brakes. I removed and repaired fuel pumps, alternators, and even rescored cylinders. I worked on my cars.
Now I’m not even sure where my engine is. I had a car where the engine was in the back. The car I drive now has the engine in the front. Or I think it does. When I lift the hood, I don’t see anything that resembles the carburetors, alternators, and such that I expect to see on the engine.
But today I use that car to transport me to someone who needs my discernment, my experience, my ability with words, and my ability to quietly keep myself…
