My name is Ekene Azu. I am from Aurora, Colorado but both of my parents are from Nigeria. My full name is Ekenediliosa and it means “Thanks be to God”. Even though my parents are from Nigeria, I have never been! I hope to go one day with my family.

I am in my 4th and final year of dental school. I am looking forward to working as a dentist, but also excited to tap into my creative side. I also have a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@ekene6841), online course (https://eaazu5.systeme.io/7da2921a), and podcast (https://anchor.fm/ekene3) that is available on all platforms. On these platforms, I talk about various self development topics and things that I have learned from being in school.

My goal on Medium is to earn a side income while being able to share my creations with as many people as possible. I love writing poetry and I would like to explore that side more and more on this platform.

I have 3 younger brothers and it means the world to me that I be the ultimate role model not just for me, but for them. I am engaged to an incredible woman. We are in the process of planning the wedding and as you may be aware, weddings are not cheap lol. I am also hoping to use some of the money I make on here to help fund our wedding!

I had an interesting journey to dental school. I did the IB program in high school but failed to receive my IB diploma. I then took a few gap years after college since I did not get into dental school after completing a post-bacc program. I struggled with my mental health throughout school and I want to create content that can help anyone else who has struggled with their mental health. I want everyone to know that no matter what you are going through, if you keep showing up, everything will work out.
