My first lucid dream was about shoes. I was around 8 years old. They were granny boots: black, lace-up high-heels. I remember feeling them on my feet, and then placing them back in my closet before bed. I woke up, threw off my purple and white flower print comforter, startling my cat, who jumped off the bed with me. I turned the brass knob of the splintered wooden closet door, and opened it.
The shoes were gone.

Maybe that’s when I started to question reality, or time. After earning some money doing additional chores around the house, I bought those boots and put them in the closet. They were $14.99 at K-Mart.
Was I viewing the future in my dream, or was I creating it?
