About Me — Simran Ghera
In a quest for myself one experience at a time…
Heya there!
If I had a quote to summarize my state of mind, it would be this:
“ Every time I find the meaning of life, they change it”
This quote by Daniel Klein deeply resonates with what goes on in my mind. In an attempt to decode the ultimate formula for life, I have reached a good cocktail of sarcasm and paranoia. I am Simran Ghera and welcome to a snippet into my mind with what I’d like to call “What song is this?”
Let’s get done with basic parts first; I am from Karachi Pakistan, have an undergrad degree in International Accounting and Finance and am delightful unless contacted before my morning jug of coffee.
I am an avid music, books, movies, shows fan with an added dash of everything finance. I will consume anything that aims to enlighten, inspire and generate all these tingling feelings in the pit of your stomach in an attempt to distract you from that hollow void you’ve been feeling all day.
But how does finance fit that combination Simran? Glad you asked. I believe finance has the ability to shift power structures between economies, companies and even people. Just look at the Sub-prime loan crisis of 2008 or if you don’t want to read through long pages of text, watch ‘The Big Short’. That incident single-handedly reminded the world who’s the boss when it comes to thriving economies and prosperity among citizens. I think Uncle Ben referred to the financial sector when he said;
“With great power, comes great responsibility.”
Thus, my goal with each finance blog would be to responsibly convey different aspects of finance, adding an extra amount of simplicity and an almost invisible amount of humour to make it digestible.
So whenever you get time, join me for a lighthearted conversation (one-sided mostly) around finance and the wonders that are continuously being performed in this field. Or you can also connect with me on LinkedIn.
Fun Fact: I can speak 5 languages with one in the making (although 2 of them are regional, but still..)
Not-so-fun Fact: My name is as common as rain in London.
Another Fun Fact: I like to play the guitar, sing and kickbox (not in that order)
Last Fun Fact: My favourite book is A Random Walk Down Wall Street (No seriously!)
