So, tell me about yourself.

Instantly, my body freezes as it fills with dread. My chest tightens, a knot forms in my throat, and my eyes dart back and forth desperate to find a way to escape.

I’m 29 and still this question fills me with dread.

There is so much shame attached to my journey and who I am that I’ve spent most of my life hiding and trying not to be seen.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to know about you. I’d love to know about you . . . but just don’t ask me about me.

My coworker said it the best, “I love my job because I get to talk all day, but I don’t have to talk about myself.”

So, Tell me about yourself.

What do you say? What do you not say?

What parts of yourself to you revel and what parts of yourself to you keep hidden?

Why?

They say to get someone to instantly like you ask them about themselves.

You become interested in them and make them feel like they are the most important person in the world.
