As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape, my heart would begin to race with a fear that seemed to consume me whole. At the tender age of nine, I was plagued by a dread of the dark, a fear so paralyzing that it gripped me tight each night as darkness descended upon our remote village. Growing up in a land where electricity was a luxury, our nights were shrouded in a cloak of impenetrable blackness, with only the faint glow of the moon to illuminate our path.
