Summary of adbank’s progress in 2019:

You can find our last big roadmap update here. In this post, we outlined what has been achieved so far, and the goals for 2019.

2019’s goals were:

  • BLADE adoption
  • Pilots
  • Token Utility through use of our ad networks

You can see the 2019 roadmap here:

You can view all of our monthly and quarterly updates on our blog here.

Jon (CEO) Outlook:

Our internal target was 10k users on BLADE by the end of 2019… we surpassed that goal by a wide margin! In fact, at the time of publishing, we have over 25k users!

Some of our other goals did not get met, challenges are to be expected when launching a disruptive technology and in 2019 we certainly had our share! However, the team handled them all extremely well and I am excited for what is to come in 2020!

2019 Opportunities — aka Challenges:

  • Crypto alt market continued to not regain the attention and advertising dollars
  • Shortly after we launched BLADE and gained some initial traction in Chrome we had the extension removed
  • The effective CPM we are able to charge to advertisers is a constant challenge with the value of the impressions being much lower than we would expect
  • ECig Media had a strong headwind with health uncertainty around vaping

It is worth discussing briefly the challenge around the CPM. “CPM means cost per mille or, more modernly, cost per thousand. Mille is the term used for a thousand impressions in the ad business.” BLADE’s CPM is how much we are able to charge an advertiser to show an ad to BLADE users. Our hope was this would be in the premium CPM range of $5 to $15, but in 2019 we were not able to charge that high of a CPM. As we’ve explained in this blog post: The higher the CPM, the more ADB rewards BLADE users receive, and the more tokens need to be purchased by advertisers — and the more the entire ecosystem is fuelled by BLADE!

Right now the CPM we can charge advertisers as demonstrated by our performance campaigns is very low and in 2020 we have several key results focused on addressing that issue.

2019 Highlights:

  • Exponential user growth at the end of the year! We love that dashboard right now!
  • Mainstream coverage of BLADE and exposure to some of the largest audiences in the world of crypto!
  • ECig strong performance to end the year

2020 What to Expect (our OkR’s for 2020):

We are going to focus on 2 main objectives:

1. BLADE User Growth to 100k

Monthly Incentive Campaigns — continue our strong performance for what has been working to date and really drive the user count.

Once per Quarter Main Stream Coverage — Ensure we generate some mainstream coverage.

2. Effective CPM over $2.50

2a. Task Marketplace Tested and Rolled Out Generating Revenue for Users — We have not revealed much about this but we will be testing and looking to roll out a task marketplace where we already have part of the formula…

  • We have thousands of users willing to complete tasks (download BLADE and complete KYC)
  • We have a way to communicate real time with them about up to the minute tasks required to be completed (BLADE)
  • All we need to do is test if there is a need from advertisers/others to have various tasks completed. Picture a more decentralized MechanicalTurk powered by BLADE with payments sent in ADB.

2b. World’s First Ad Creative Case Study— Because of the unique way communicate with BLADE users via display ads, we have some creative campaigns we are able to run. In 2020 we will test and demonstrate as a case study the increased engagement a brand can get from an “easter egg hunt” campaign that can only be run on BLADE.

2c. New adbank website — Continue to separate the B2B side of the business with adbank and the B2C side with BLADE.

The 2 key results for increasing CPM are about leveraging the unique position BLADE is in to drive up the CPM to the audience that the advertisers want to be advertising to as well as finding a way to generate value in audiences that advertisers are not currently spending money to advertise to.

Key Areas of Business Activity:

Tech:

2019 has been a huge year for us and there were many big tech updates throughout the year. Catch up on the top updates here:

Team:

You can see everyone on the team on the website at adbank.network and you can read about the final re-org in this blog post. Once we have reached an amount of active daily users on BLADE, we will bring on a dedicated Sales Lead with industry experience and shift resources back to sales. For now, the team is working on aggressive user acquisition strategies.

Financial / Runway:

Our runway model projects well into 2021. The increase in value in crypto offset the revenue being behind plan.

Sales & Marketing:

We are thrilled that BLADE is now live for both Chrome and Firefox, and with extensions in place, user acquisition is now the top priority in driving the success of the adbank project. We have been seeing truly amazing user adoption since introducing the referral bonus promotions in October 2019. We can’t wait to roll out more promotions that benefit BLADE users!

The 2020 roadmap:

BLADE:

Promotion, Marketing & Technology

The referral promotion is really taking off and the feedback we’re hearing is that people love it! We will continue to run the referral promotion so that our loyal BLADE supporters can earn extra ADB rewards.

Marketing efforts for BLADE and adbank will continue with the focus being on user acquisition for both BLADE and the greater adbank network. Not sure how adbank and BLADE work together? Find out in this blog post.

BLADE tech is complete and live for both Chrome and Firefox. Any fixes will be implemented as needed throughout 2020.

The BLADE Marketplace:

Responding to user feedback, we’re developing an experimental new project. More details will be released after the testing phase.

Artificial Intelligence:

Our AI is complete and patents have been submitted. You can find out how the AI works and see the patent documents in this blog post.

Bug Fixes:

Nothing is ever perfect, so we plan to have the resources available to quickly fix any bugs or issues that surface throughout the year.
