Welcome to the 15th edition of the aelf Monthly Digest, covering the developments and progress made in September 2023. This report provides an overview of the advancements in aelf’s technology, ecosystem development, and partnerships during the past month.
Technology
aelf Network Upgraded to v1.6.0 on the Testnet
In September, aelf conducted a network upgrade to v1.6.0 on the Testnet. This upgrade aims to enhance the experience for virtual address users and make improvements regarding MainChain and SideChain addresses. aelf v1.6.0 optimises the way to log virtual address transaction events, making it convenient for users to record and access information related to this type of transaction. In addition, a deterministic contract address derivation mechanism is added to the Genesis contract, allowing contracts deployed on the MainChain and SideChains to have the same address. This reduces the learning curve for developers and eliminates the need for users to remember, store, or identify addresses on multiple chains.
After completing the upgrade on the Testnet, aelf plans to implement the Mainnet upgrade in October.
Ecosystem
aelf Ventures Launches $50m Ecosystem Fund to Support Web3 Growth
aelf has launched aelf Ventures with a $50 million Ecosystem Fund, embarking on both strategic and financial investments in promising blockchain startups and established crypto enterprises. The venture arm is adopting a vertical and stage-agnostic approach to pledge comprehensive support to innovative Web3 projects.
aelf Ventures has already invested in several promising projects, including Crystal Fun and Mythic Protocol, and will be instrumental in nurturing innovative blockchain projects within the aelf and multi-chain ecosystems.

aelf burnt 393,226,908 ERC-20 ELF deposited via Mainnet swap. The record can be viewed in this post.

However, it is important to note that token burning does not guarantee that the price of a token will increase.

BeanGo Town: A Web3 Game, Built with Porkey SDK, Featuring On-Chain Random Numbers and NFTs
BeanGo Town is a Web3 game built on the aelf blockchain using aelf’s Verifiable Random Function and Portkey SDK. BeanGo Town is a Monopoly-inspired game that combines on-chain random numbers and NFTs in an exciting board exploration experience, where players consume GOs to move their characters across the board, with steps determined by random on-chain numbers.
Upon entry with a BeanPass NFT, players can play to earn Beans, from 1 Bean to 5 Beans, or a luck-driven treasure chest offering up to 50 Beans. With its unique gameplay mechanics and innovative use of blockchain technology, BeanGo Town is a promising addition to the growing Web3 gaming landscape.
Partnerships
aelf and Kaiju Partner to Bring Blockchain Gaming to the Masses
aelf inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kaiju, a leading blockchain gaming company. The MoU will see the two companies collaborate to bring blockchain gaming to the masses. Together, Kaiju will integrate its gaming tools with the aelf blockchain. This will enable a seamless experience for developers and users of Kaiju’s games. Kaiju will also provide advisory for Web3 game development to successful applicants to the aelevate Gaming Program.
Further, Kaiju and aelf will organise workshops to support game developers in leveraging Kaiju’s tools alongside aelf’s blockchain and Portkey’s wallet functionalities. These workshops will enable developers to create high-quality blockchain games that are accessible to a wide audience.
This partnership is a major step forward towards mainstream acceptance of blockchain gaming. By working together, aelf and Kaiju can create a more user-friendly and accessible platform for blockchain games.
aelf and Horizon Land Partner on Education
aelf has formed a strategic partnership with Horizon Land, a premier metaverse platform specializing in educational collaborations. This alliance will empower aelf to develop a specialized curriculum for Horizon Land’s Blockchain Bootcamp, targeting the transformation of traditional internet industries by integrating web3 technologies. The program is designed to enlighten both domestic and international audiences on blockchain’s capabilities while equipping developers with the skills to build applications on the platform and seamlessly integrate Portkey’s wallet functionalities.
This collaboration marks a pivotal advancement in the realm of Web3 gaming. Through their collective efforts, aelf and Horizon Land aim to revolutionize the gaming landscape by enabling developers to craft, and players to experience deeply immersive and interactive Web3 games.
aelf and Chainatlas Partnership in Pursuit of True Interoperability
aelf and Chainatlas have partnered to enable seamless interoperability, which is crucial for the advancement of the blockchain industry. aelf’s dApp development platform and Chainatlas’s virtualisation technology will work together to allow developers to easily port their web3 projects onto aelf, irrespective of the underlying smart contract specifications. This will benefit both aelf and ChainsAtlas, as it will attract more game studios and other web2 industries to the aelf ecosystem, while also providing ChainsAtlas with a driving force for exciting projects to prove traction and technological impact. Overall, this mutually beneficial partnership aims to spur innovation, amplify their respective ecosystems, and consolidate both entities as leading contributors to the blockchain industry.

AELFINITY Developer Workshop
aelf hosted the AELFINITY Developer Workshop in September, where participants learned how to integrate aelf’s SDK and Portkey’s SDK into their project. They gained first-hand experience in the seamless process of deploying dApps within the aelf ecosystem.
The workshop was a success, with participants from a variety of backgrounds, including developers, entrepreneurs, and investors. This shows aelf’s unwavering commitment to improving developer experience.

Beyond ScalingX powered by AELF
aelf hosted a night of innovation and celebration at Skai Lounge Bar together with ScalingX. The event discussed insights from leading experts in the blockchain industry, as well as the latest developments in aelf’s technology and ecosystem. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the future of Web3 and network with industry leaders.
Blockchain Gaming Grand Prix: Accelerating to the Gaming Future
aelf also hosted a friendly go-kart competition and networking event for blockchain enthusiasts. The event featured aelf’s new gaming vertical, aelevate, which is designed to enable gaming studios to transition to Web3.
Over 1,000 attendees from a variety of backgrounds, including game developers, investors, and enthusiasts, participated in the Grand Prix. The go-karting was competitive but fun, and the networking opportunities were invaluable.
aelf Office Opening
aelf officially opened its new global hub in Singapore. The event was attended by members of the aelf team, partners, and community members.
The new global hub is a testament to aelf’s growth and commitment to the blockchain ecosystem. The space will be used for a variety of purposes, including team collaboration, events, and meetings with partners and customers.
