Product management has blossomed into one of the hottest roles in business. There are more conferences, resources, and tools than ever to support the discipline’s emergence. According to a study conducted by Hired, product management candidates receive the highest salary offers of any role in technology!

Every year, we publish our Product Management Year in Review, which includes a list the 40 most influential people who pushed the industry forward. This year’s list featured quite a few familiar faces like Julie Zhou and Eric Ries, along with many newcomers like Jackie Bavaro and Brent Tworetzky.

Our selection criteria prioritizes those who (i) published unique, high-quality, and actionable insights, and who (ii) garnered a readership and following. For each influencer who made the list, we’ve included a brief bio, up to three of their most recent contributions, and their social media handles.

The progression of topics over the years encapsulates the rapid maturity of the industry. In 2015, most influencers focused on defining product management and advocating for it as a function in different industries and organizations. In 2016, the most popular content explored best practices, from roadmapping to prioritization. This year, influencers explained how to recruit and grow a product team, which conferences and events to go to for networking, and how to seamlessly incorporate emergent technologies into a product portfolio.
