The Women of Aleph Have Got Soul

On 10 March 2022, #peopleofaleph celebrated equality and hear from the #womenofaleph themselves.

This year’s IWD was celebrated with a twist. The plan was to create a meaningful, sustainable and awesome moment for the women of Aleph. So, the IWD team banded together and created a special collection of NFTs which we gifted to them. It was named the #SoulOfAleph, which represents the women of Aleph, displaying each of their strengths and uniqueness.

From Concept to Soul

With the concept fresh in our heads, we crafted and blasted out a personality survey to all the Alephian women worldwide. The results we received guided us to a colourful world of 5 Alephian “souls” that personify the #SoulOfAleph — the Buddy, the Captain, the Crafter, the Solutionist and the Warrior. From there, we explored numerous ways of illustration to accurately depict each of these personalities. Moving one step further, a variety of background textures were used to symbolise the individual’s journey in Aleph.

Creating the blockchain-based tokens became an even more exciting process when we finally determined the artwork for the souls. In order to individualise the NFTs with these 5 main illustrations, modular graphical sections were constructed and put together, with a final addition of the recipient’s eyes — the windows to her soul — cropped from her profile picture, to form a unique #SoulOfAleph NFT.

Introducing the souls of Aleph.

Here’s a breakdown of what the various elements represent:

1. Soul — the main element that symbolises the individual’s personality
2. Eyes — the most prominent piece that makes it unique
3. Hair — representative of the recipient’s hairstyle
4. Trinket — this represents the person’s craft
5. Main badge — changes according to various occasions (Alephversary, IWD etc.)
6. Background — a symbol of the individual’s journey duration in Aleph

Creating One-Of-a-Kind NFTs

The next step was to seek out our tech team’s superpowers. They were to create unique NFT cocktails from the array of elements in our stash before minting began. Coupling with the animation team, each soul was formed into an animated dynamic NFT in double-quick time. The team hustled to perfect each piece in a matter of days and eventually presented 128 special tokens.

OpenSea was the platform of choice for minting the souls since it’s one of the biggest and most popular decentralised marketplaces for NFTs. After we had presented these souls to the women of Aleph, all they had to do was to claim them.

But that’s not all. We wanted to take it one step further by linking each of the NFTs to a charity organisation. Any profit earned from them will be streamed directly to the charity of our choice. Each #SoulOfAleph has a common mission to reach out, create a difference, and uplift other women in society, fulfilling our IWD 2022 motto, “I’ve Got Soul. I Shall Uplift.”.
