The Journal of Alternative Cameras
Note from the editor

This blog is dedicated to the joys of alternative cameras, their use and the art which is created with them. What’s an alternative camera? It is a camera which is unique in some manner that makes it interesting as an object itself. It is film, or digital. It is antique, or brand new. The flip side of an alt camera is the materials and processes needed to create an image with it. Alt cameras may be used in an alt process; that broad collection of antiquated or novel materials and methods for making photographs, i.e. daguerreotype, tintype, photogravure, wet plate, cyanotype, carbon printing, etc. Alt cameras may use modern rollfilm (35mm or 120 format) because the rise of digital photography has moved all film photography into the realm of “alternative.” Alt cameras may also be digital, by way of their use of novel sensors, designs, or purposes. A final warning: off-topic posts are likely, as they spring to the editor’s mind.
