How many people know the life story of Sammy Davis Jr.? I can remember as a child watching him on television thinking he was a cool guy. I knew he had played roles in television shows and movies, but I had no idea who he was.

Well, I did some research and reading and the article that follows are things that I believe you should know about him. There is much more to be told but in the interest of brevity in the article, I did not include those events. I sincerely hope you enjoy reading what I wrote. Let’s get started.

Sammy Davis Jr. was born on December 8, 1925, in the Harlem section of Manhattan in New York City. He was the son of African American entertainer and stage performer Sammy Davis Sr. and tap dancer and stage performer Elvera Sanchez.
