New and improved: Anchor’s smart background music is now available on web
With web capabilities and new features to customize your sound, you now have more flexibility than ever with background music for your podcast.
We want your podcast to sound great. Editing audio can be daunting, especially when it comes to adding background music or beats to set a mood for your show — which involves finding the right sound (and making sure you’re legally allowed to use it), matching it to the sound of your voice, tweaking the volume perfectly, the list goes on.
Since Anchor is the easiest way to make a podcast, we built a solution that simplifies this entire process into a couple clicks. Last year we introduced the ability to add smart background music to your episodes, which automatically adjusts to the sound of your voice. Now, we’re making that feature even better. Starting today, you can add background music to your episodes from Anchor’s mobile apps or web experience, and we’ve also added an easy manual volume adjuster so you can choose the perfect sound for your show.
You can think of it as a photo filter for your podcast! Or you can think of it as magic. Either way, here’s how you can take advantage of Anchor’s smart background music feature.
How it works
When you’re creating a new episode on your Anchor web dashboard, tap the grey music note icon on the right side of any segment in your in-progress episode or audio library. This gives you the option to browse our collection of 100+ free, licensed sounds.
The background music will automatically fade out to a low volume when your recording starts, and fade back in when it’s over (really handy for things like intro or outro segments where you want the drama of background music without having to manually edit it in). We’ll match the background music to the volume of the voices in your segment, but you can also manually adjust the volume of the overall track by using the slider.
Once you’re happy with the segment, hit “save” and keep building your episode!
